He doesn't like the taste but there is no other flavors. Can I just mix it with some juice he likes?

No. Don't mix it with ANY drink - if he doesn't finish the drink, he won't get the whole dose, which defeats the whole purpose.

Try this: have him suck on an ice cube for a couple of minutes beforehand. It'll numb his tongue. The have him hold his nose (make it into a game type thing) and drink it quick. If he can't smell it, he can't taste it. (Think about how food tastes when you have a stuffy nose. Kinda like nothing, right?) Then, follow it with something he likes - to drink or a lollipop or something.

OR, mix it with a little chocolate or strawberry syrup (like Nesquick) and have him drink it that way.

Yep, that might work..just don't let him know the medicine is in the juice. When I was little and my mom figured I needed an aspirin, she would crush it between 2 spoons and mix it with jam, and I gladly took it. The only problem was, I LIKED how it tasted, so I would then sneak aspirin and do the same thing. So that is why, with my kids, I never tried to make the medicine taste better. I can remember also sneaking Bennelin cough syrup, because I liked the taste..guess I was kind of an odd kid.

Ask at the pharmacy where you get the medication filled. There is something available called "Flavor RX." These are concentrated flavorings that are specially made for this purpose.

As a mom, what I do is this: Offer them a "chaser" - juice, water, milk, etc. It helps if they have something in their hand that they can drink immediatly after they take the med. Make sure what you give them doesn't interact with the medication. Talk to your pharmacist.

You can have the pharmacy mix it with different flavors, but I'm going to guess that it's not so much the taste, but the loss of "control" that he's struggling against. You're just going to have to hold him down and squirt the medicine in at this point.

Well it depends on the kind of medicine, like if its a liquid or pill, i assume liquid. Yeah its not a problem to put it in to juice as long as he drinks it all, you can also try mixing it into someother things like peanut butter or other foods that are easy to mix things into. I dont know if either of those things will mask the taste, but goodluck

I've tried to mix it with juice, but sometimes they can taste the medicine anyway and won't drink the juice. Try presenting it different. Like on a spoon if you use a dropper usually, or someone told me to put it on a spoon with chocolate syrup. I'm not one for feeding my child a spoon of sugar, but it worked!

As long as he take all the juice that will work, another thing you can do is mix it with pudding or a little yogurt only about a spoonful, that way he gets all the meds in the first bite, then let him have the rest of the pudding.

well, my son just had his tonsils out and the pain meds are nasty, the pharmacist recommended I place the med in the little cup and then add a shot of apple juiced(it is strong enough to mask the taste) the only prob w/ you mixing it in a bottle or cup of juice is he may not finish the whole drink. so, yes mix it w/ something he likes, but do it in the little measuring cup or maybe put it in the spoon and allow him to have a sprite or cup of juice to immediately take a sip. good luck!!

I have a soon to be four yr old and I can remember that time where he would not take meds no matter what form. His doctor told me to do this. Take the med and mix it up with jello or try putting it in with the childs drink. The jello worked for me everytime pudding works to. Now they have it where you can have your childs meds mixed with flavor try that aswell.

yep, put it in with a small amount of juice to make sure he drinks it all. You can also do this with the liquid vitamins if he still takes those. However, I wouldn't use milk as that might curdle or have a naty reaction in his tummy. Then you have an even bigger problem. Good luck!
