Has anyone taken both?

they're the same. the DAT measures intelligence a little more rather than information learned. the DAT has sections that resemble IQ tests.

MCAT is harder, because it covers a far wider range of subjects. Actually, VCAT is probably even harder than the MCAT because it covers a very wide range of biological processes than MCAT does. This is not to say that MCAT is not hard. It is. Probably the single most important determinant of whether or not you will get into a school.

I like Tom's answer, especially since he has taken both tests. The DAT has portions designed to test your visual and spatial perception and ability to problem solve that I doubt are on the MCAT's. If you can't think your way out of a box - in 3-D - you will have trouble being a dentist. There is a lot of diagnosis in what we do, but in the end, we are also the ones who have to perform that microsurgery needed to fix the problem. The DAT tried to assess your abilities in that area.

The pre-med and pre-dental cirriculum are almost identical, and the admissions test to Med and dental schools ask the same type of questions. If you are prepared for one, you in all probablilty will do well in either.
