Assuming he is guilty which is still an assumption what is your line "Are the Americans that desperate to find the new Lance" comment. Last time I checked the TDF was a professional cycling race and Floyd worked for Phonak not "the US." While most who follow cycling in the US were pulling for the guy we certainty were not feeding the guy testosterone. Landis's choice to cheat if he did cheat was on his own no part of some grand American plot.

If Landis is guilty then he should be banned and lose the title and Pereiro should be crowned the new TDF winner. Most US sporting fans are not big fans of cheaters so he won't get any backing in the US press or from most of the fan base if it turns out he is guilty.

Fox News is a joke ! I think he was set up. They tried the same non sense with Lance Armstrong, and they lost. Americans have won the race 8 years in a row. And the French are sorry *** losers. I don't think Mr. Landis is that stupid considering some of the top riders got kicked out even before the race started...

At that level of professional sports, NO-ONE takes testosterone "unknowingly". Landis knew exactly what he was doing, and thought he could get away with it. The man is a disgrace.

And if, by some very vague, 1-in-a-million chance he didnt know he was taking it, then both he and his doctor are idiots for not checking all his medication at least three times, and then ring everything he took to the authorities.

But I dont think he landis, or his doctor, are idiots. Just dumb cheats.

Do you mean "they" as in Phonak, the Swiss based team? Or do you mean the team staff and team manager, Lelangue?

The US cycling federation does not encourage doping and certainly not regarding Floyd. Yes, we as Americans want another winner and successor to Lance.

Your statement suggests that there is a consipiracy, nationwide, to boost up a successor to Lance. I don't believe that. Because 1) we're a big country with means, so, in the next years, we won't be short of great cycling talent to succeed in Europe. And 2) we hate cheaters, even if its our own. It's a disservice to our national pride. However, unlike many, we openly punish the ones who are proven to be a cheater. We want to win fair and according to the rules of the chosen sport.

So, there's no conspiracy. There's only mis guided actions and now, we see the potential fruits of such actions.

But we still have to see what the results are.

I am a fan of Floyd and his story. I'm crossing my fingers.

However, if it's PROVEN (burden is on UCI/WADA) that he doped, then we, fans of cycling, will throw Floyd into the dog-house.

Cheers, and good riding!

Just because he tested positive doesn't necessarily mean he took steroids. Also the steriods have to be performance enhancing to be considered illegal. It wouldn't surprise me if he was prescribed steriods from his doctor to treat his knee injury.
