Well John 3:16 is a good scripture on that. Plus if you will notice in Revelations 4 you see no more mention of the Christians. We have been raptured out. The 144,000 is the jews who are saved during the tribulation. They must be decendents of the 12 tribes as well. Salvation is a who so ever will like in John 3:16. The whole would could be saved but we no that will not happen.

There are some Christian religions that believe that not all followers of Jesus go to heaven, but rather stay in a paradise on Earth after this system of things is destroyed. The ones who go to heaven in this system of beliefs are part of a spiritual Israel of God's chosen people (rather than the physical one) and number 144,000 (12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel) but are made up of people from all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues (languages).
In most Christian religions though, many believe this 144,000 will come from the physical Israel and will rule in heaven as kings and priests with Jesus over the rest of the Christians who also go to heaven.
To learn more about the first group, I only know of the Jehovah's Witnesses as teachers of that one, though there may be more. But talk to them next time they come to your door and maybe you can learn more about that. Usually the other Christians go with the second one, so you should be able to find more about that one pretty much anywhere else they claim to be Christians.

Revelations also says that there will ten thousands times ten thousands singing in heaven. WIth my math that's 100 Million. Of course, I don't think John actually counted them. However, anyone and everyone could go to heaven if they desired to. The Bible mentions the number 144000. But those are Jews that will be left on earth during the Tribulation that will be saved.

Matthew 25:40-one..... lake of fireplace. in Revelations hell, and the grave are tossed in there. the devil replaced into forged out as a permenant resident, besides the undeniable fact that, being angelic (properly, demonic now) he nevertheless has some get entry to. he wasn't banished, he purely replaced into kicked out of the abode. i do not understand if devil is on the prompt on earth, yet i understand demons are. devil is continually scuffling with with the angels of heaven. so God's residing abode is extremely a conflict-zone at present. my guess is that he's up there somewhat faraway from the fray, letting demons wrestle, even as he tells demons what to do and say. i do not imagine devil is employed. God has a plan for each man or woman's existence. being the author, He knows the strengths and weaknesses of each and every being. so devil is given abode windows of chance and bounds at particular cases. after all, what would not kill you makes you more suitable.

In Revelation it talks about 144,000, 12,000 from each tribe of Israel being sealed, however, I think that this is more to symbolize that there will be many Christians being saved, not that that's how many, otherwise all the millions of Christians that have lived and died aren't getting into heaven despite believing in and following Christ.

Actually no it doesn't say a specific number of people will get into heaven. There are references to the 144,000 remnant (12,000 from each tribe of Israel) in the book of revelation, but it does not say those are the only ones going to heaven.
All are welcome, and He wants all to come, but many CHOOSE to do what they want and enter into the judgment. Just like any criminal who chooses to disobey the law, there is a penalty.

It is stated in revelations that 144,000 will be saved. That is speaking of those Jews that will come out of the great tribulation. 12,000 each out of the twelve tribes of Judah. (Rev 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.)
That is not however, the total number of people who will get to heaven.

144000 is said to be the chosen number of people going to be allowed into heaven and if you ask a Jehovah's Wittiness ( this is what they believe in and that's the number they believe to be chosen) they will tell you that the 144000 people are already chosen and only they will get in to heaven. I am not sure why they believe this or where they come up with the number but that's where it comes from.

There is no limit to the number in heaven. On the other hand, there is no reincarnation. The truth cannot be changed, any more than closing your eyes can stop that bag of flour from falling on your head; the one your practical joker friend always puts on the doorway.

Matthew 10:42 says "...if anyone gives even a cup of cold water...he will not lose his reward."
I'd like to hear the minister read THAT verse just before passing the collection plate.
No, no set number. We're all welcome. What if you're reborn in Somalia?
