Ticks can live anywhere even under wallpaper. There is a product called frontline plus that repels and kills ticks and their eggs This is the best product. There is also a preventic collar, and advantix, works but not as safe or effecient as frontline. Hint, don't light a match, that causes them to bury deeper into your pet, when you pull them out then you are most likely leaving the mouth peice which can cause a red bump and infection. When removing a tick use tweezers to turn the tick counter clock wise and pull, you can treat an infected area with hydrogen peroxide. Make sure you also get your house and yard treated. 1 tick can lay thousands of eggs. So if just one came off your dog into your house or yard, it may start an infestation.
P.S. a tick must be attached to your dog for 24 hours to transmit lyme disease

Ticks generally live in and around heavily wooded areas. The park you mention might be a problem if your dog spends a lot of time there. There are several different remedies for tick problems...a collar is one, but you kind of get what you pay for (most are cheap and don't work very well). Sentinel is another good solution. It's a pill that you buy from the vet that's given monthly and it protects against flea, tick, and heartworm infestations. Flea and tick shampoos are also good for killing anything that's living on the dog, but you have to bathe them evey 7-10 days for them to be effective. Good luck!

Ticks are probably in the trees in the park. There are tick prevention collars and shampoos, though I haven't really had luck with them. I was told that a none medicated way to get rid of them is to give the dog garlic. I'm going to start trying that today to see if it helps my dog. The person who told me about this tells me that it will make my dog smell like garlic.

Ticks do live in trees and like to drop onto animals passing underneath. Well, trees and bushes. So the park is a good possibility as the source. There are many products that claim to repel ticks but asome are better than others. I would look for a spray on preperation so you can control where it goes and how much is on the coat. Also I would look for something not toxic for the animal. Go to a good pet store or to your vet.

In brush, tall grass, trees, piles of cut wood, etc. If the tick is embedded a vet should remove it. If it's just on the surface remove it with your fingers then place it in an ashtray and burn the sucker. They can't be squished and seem to have 9 lives. Again burn the sucker. There are several good tick treatments for dogs. Also if your dog gets lime disease (the first sign is stiff and sore rear legs and thigh) it can be treated with antibiotics. The dogs make a full recovery.

Use Advantix or Frontline, its a 30 day treatment so you will have to reapply every 30 days during the summer. It works really good. Ticks live in the grass and woods. You can sprinkle 7 dust to help control fleas and ticks but you really need to treat the animals for sure. Good Luck

Hey!! It probably is the area that you walk your dog , but it could also be your yard, or another pet that your dog has been around.
You should try K9 ADVANTIX flea and tick treatments. You do this once a month, and it should be ok. Give your dog a good bath, check for fleas and ticks ,then completely dry it's coat.
Make sure you apply it all down your dog's back, where the skin is and the area that usually gets ticks.
You have to stay consistant otherwise they'll return.

and find someplace new for your pet to walk!!!!!

Tiks live in high grass and bushes. You can use an anti-tick shampoo to keep them off. You should probably take her to a vet to get them removed.

there are flea and tick collars, they don't really work. there is flea and tich shampoo, then there is a gel to put between their shoulder blades. Talk to your vet they also have a pill that you can give your pet every six months.
