It could be a pulled muscle or simply a muscle that's been used a little too much.

You may want to do some research on "shin splints". See if it applies to you:

I'd start doing the standard procedure of taking an anti-inflamatory and perhaps icing it. You'll want to stay off of it too until the pain goes down.

When you start running be sure you have quality shoes (not cross trainers either), run on soft surfaces, and keep your mileage low. You may find it useful to alternative between walking and running.

Running is stressful on the body -- that there is no doubt. You must acclimate yourself to it. Doing too much too soon will result in injury.

Good luck.

It is because your body wasn't use to exercising. If you say you just started running you need to give your body a little time to get used to it. Don't worry in no time you're gonna be a panther running around with no pain.
