I know it's a racial slur for black people. But it's so...stupid. I just don't even get why that was supposed to be insulting in the first place. I mean all racial slurs are pretty stupid but that word sounds like some dumbass white kid couldn't think of anything more clever to say 50 years ago and it just stuck.

It's stupid, but I guess it's because someone racist decided that black people like to sit on the porch. But I am white and I love to hang out on the porch, so I guess I am a porch monkey too.

Look at any movie: When somebody visits an 'African American' family they always seem to be on the porch. Monkey is an old one and points to their African origin.
