I have a minuature Doverman and about a month or so he began digging in our restroom trashcan and began eating what was left in the toilet papers. Any solutions on how to make him stop.

Dogs are integrated into our world. They have no idea that we think eatting dirty tampons and used tissues is not right. Just like they don't know that biting is bad because it's how they play with their litter mates. You have to teach the pup not to eat the trash, jump on people, steal off the counter, and all the other rules you want inforced. I got my dogs to stop tearing stuff out of the trash by filling it with tissues and pouring tabasco sauce on top.

Dog's can be attracted to the smelliest grossest things! They do not have the same sense of what is yucky that we do. The best thing is to learn to keep them away from trashcans - by keeping the door closed. You can also make sure that your dog has plenty of toys and chew bones to distract him. A Kong with peanut butter or easy cheese inside makes a great pastime for a dog. I wouldn't recommend giving him something like this immediately after getting in the garbage tho, because he will think it is a reward for doing something good.

Potato chips aren't really good for people but we eat them anyway because we like them. In the same way, some things that are disgusting to us are like tasty junk food to dogs. The only way that I know of to get them to stop is to make the garbage can inaccessible. Get a can that has a lid or is too heavy for the dog to tip over, or close the bathroom door.

Well, you could put a lid on the trash can, or put it in and out-of-reach place where the dog can't get to it. As well, you have to shut the bathroom door when you leave so he won't be able to get in the bathroom. As for why dogs eat things that there not really supposed to, they're trying to clear out their stomaches, or it might because they just like the taste of it. I know that in the case of if they're eating grass, it's because they're trying to make themselves either go to the bathroom or throw up to get toxins out of their system.

Take a spray bottle and spray him a couple of times when he goes near it. It should help, but if you arent home, close the door to the restroom.

Sometimes they are teething and just want to chew. Also sheer boredom will cause an animal to eat anything. Give them their "own" toys .don't forget some type of lack of vitamin
