There's a difference between Jesus, and men like Smith and Hubbard.
Smith and Hubbard produced their own writings on the religions that they founded.
Jesus, meanwhile, never wrote a thing down -- so He cannot be accused, as can the other two guys, of "making things up" in order to get people to follow Him.
Everything we know about Him was written down not by Himself, but by others -- many, many others, and not just the 4 Gospel writers.
All of them tell pretty much the same story about Jesus -- with uncanny consistency and accuracy.
We can't say the same thing about guys like Hubbard and Smith, who were at the end of the day self-promoters.

Jesus was either Lord, or a liar, or a lunatic. He is either who He claimed to be or He is a liar.... but if that was the case... why die an horrible death with all those beatings that just about skinned him alive... for a lie?
If He was a lunatic... His teachings were sound for all to see. He was healing people... and was murdered by those in rule and authority. Why was that? Was He a threat to them so much so that they had to kill Him?
No... I think He is the Lord. And that separates him from anyone else in history. As far as outside criticism goes... we don't need the Bible to confirm what Jesus did. Josephus Flavius did a fine job describing about what Jesus did and how He died. And get this! Josephus was a hostile witness. So what excuse is there for you now?

One major difference between Jesus and Hubbard and Smith was that Hubbard and Smith were real historic figures and not just the repackaging of Jewish and Pagan myths.

L. Ron Hubbard and Joseph Smith were DELIBERATE charlatans, they knew waht they were doing. Jesus was an UNCONSCIOUS charlatan, he REALLY thought he was on a divine mission, until when he was on the cross he realized he was gonna die and hollered, "My God, why have you forsaken me?!" After death, he was buried and decomposed. Then from the love of his disciples and his predictions about his resurrection, there arose the resurrection myth.

Ummmm. No. Don't confuse what Jesus taught with what others constructed around him. Christ NEVER claimed that he was GOD. In fact he actually told those around him not to worship him. After his death, however, domatic beliefs were built up around him to the incarnation that you are currently familiar with. Started good then was blown way out of proportion. I suspect that something similar occured with Hubbard & Smith.

Joesph Smith is an extremely common historic figure; the founding father of Mormonism, it is first prophet. this does no longer propose you would possibly want to change into Mormon, besides the undeniable fact that it is an thrilling ancestry connection. The Mormons are solid human beings, very family individuals based. lots of the international's Christians ought to judge them non-Christians for being unorthodox in theology. regardless of the very undeniable actuality that even I as a Roman Catholic appreciate them, solid those with an extremely thrilling tale. have relaxing with it, carry out somewhat analyze!!

There are three possibilities that I see for Jesus.
1. He was a charlatan
2. He was a good philosopher, and people later made a "god-figure" out of him, and polluted his message. (IE: he never claimed to be the son of God)
3. He never existed at all, and was a fictional character, stolen from earlier mythology. (See Mithraism, for example)

I think Jesus was a gifted, prophetic man who was murdered for being different from the norm of society.
