of handicapped people wanting to be called "differently abled" and black people wanting to be called "African-Americans." There is no negative connotation to the original term, whether it is specifically correct or not (I prefer the term "brown people," most have never been to Africa, and some are from Jamaica). People understand what the original term means--handicapped means differently abled. Should we be expected to adopt new names and accept being labled "politically incorrect" or insensative if we do not adopt them?

Well, if I started a religion called "Dominant Order of the Red Kangaroo's" I hope people call us "Roos" instead of "DORKs"

Because "Mormon" is not the name of their church. It's a nickname that was given to them. It's the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, and Latter day Saints, AKA LDS, is a shorter version of that.

They united ***** college fund refuses to change it's name every time black people decide to change what they want to be called.
I used to work at Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart calls it's employees associates to elevate their status. One time I was reading job adds on monster and there was an add for an associate. When I saw the add my immediate thought was that it was an entry level position. After I read the add, I realized they were talking about the real definition of the word associate, not a fake elevated title. It was a highly paid, partner level position.
So what I am saying is this. The definition of the word changes to match what people use it for. If you call disabled people handicapped eventually handicapped just means disabled, if you call employees associates, eventually associate just means employee. Changing words accomplishes nothing.

The name of the church is: The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
I don't find the term "Mormon" at all offensive, it just seems to confuse a lot of people - they think we only use the Book of Mormon, when we also accept the bible to be the word of God, or that we worship someone else other than God, or Jesus. There's enough confusion about our religion to begin with, that I'd rather not add to it.
Hope that answers your question.

Political correctness is a PITA (pain in the a$$) because it's a constantly moving target that is governed by trend.
Take for example people who lived south of the American border in the country of Mexico and came here (please note my very sensitive listing of that). What do they want to be called this week?
Mexicans
Mexican-Americans
Latin Americans
Latinos
Chicanos
Hispanics
Vatos
Illegal aliens
Immigrants
etc.
etc.
etc.

Why does this bother you so much? I wondered that when
I read your questions then when
I got to the part where you said: I prefer the term "brown people" it made sense. You are a racist jerk. Good luck in life! With your attitude you are going to need it.

It is a mis spelling.
It is Ladder Day Saints.
The only way for Morman Saints to get to heaven is by:
LADDER.
This is not limited only to Mormans. This has to cover furious chemical people also.
Hope this helps.

"Latter-day Saints" is the official name of their religion. They were never officially known as Mormons.
