The more I learn, the more I see, and the more I talk, the more I am confused by the way people blindly follow any and all religions. It seems to me that any faith that trivializes the time we spend here on earth by labeling it is as a precursor to an eternity in an afterlife is doing every one of its followers an enormous disservice. Why do people question everything and anything around them and yet blindly follow religions that have no factual existence other than in the pages of books that could have been fabricated by any person at any time for any reason? As an aside, I have plenty of experience with one of these religions, having been confirmed in the catholic church.

Life can be very confusing and chaotic. Following a religion can provide a feeling of stability and comfort. It can give you focus and direction. And if it works, why fix it?

You have taken the time to study. I only wish I could read more but I know there will always be a stack of books left when I pass on. I think the more you read the more you broaden your outlook. You also learn that nobody knows it all. I think it is then that you start to question anything written in stone as absolute with not much to back it up. I have no problem with religion and faith. I agree to not question anything is the path to nowhere. It also bothers me that many religious people will condemn another religion without taking even the slightest step to learn anything about it.

Because to question it would be to disprove it. This is a fact. And I think even in their subconscious, most theists know this. But due to the fact that they have the support of all the other theists out there, they are able to "turn off" their rational mind, and ignore the things that would disprove their beliefs.

I tend to view it sort of like a play. All of these theists agree to suspend their disbelief, and support each other's blind faith, just like actors in a play. Even though deep down, they know that the lines they're reciting, and the story they're telling, is fiction... As long as no one speaks up and admits it, they are all willing to "pretend" together.

That's why they despise atheists so much. We're like the hecklers in the audience, pointing out all the flaws and laughing at them.

The Bible could not have just been written by any person and any time for any reason. The Bible includes over 400 predictions. Almost all of which have came true. Many of them coming true in recent times. More and more of these prophecies come true as time goes along. I don't believe that "any person" would have been able to get all of those correct.

we all need firm core to sustain our lives. Without such firm core, all we do will be invain. Therefore, religions are important and they are made by very wise persons - the best in the world.
