It is the fundamental reason to question the existence of an almighty God. There are several (apparently) innate and universal capacities of human beings, the foremost being language. For example, languages may differ, but languages are present in EVERY human culture (and follow many of the same underlying rules.)
If there is a universal capacity to express ourselves through languages, one would think there is a universal capacity to recognize God. It may be in different ways, but existent in every human culture and similar in some ways. The fact countless human cultures have had NO awareness of a God, and the differences in how god is understood, seems to cast doubt on the existence of theistic, personal God.

This is a good point. The bible is full of stories about God revealing himself face to face with people, not just "a feeling inside." Or "a sense of peace and love."
If a sinner like Paul can get some face time, then why can't anyone else in modern times? If we all got a blinding light and booming voice from the sky shoved in our faces then maybe we'd all become freaky evangalists too.

yeah, He could easily do that, but why would He want to? What good would it do for Him to do that in the long run? People would still believe that He is not there even if He revealed Himself in a obvious manner just because that is how people are.
Oh, and by the way, He did not cover all of His tracks. Look at the world around you and you will clearly seee the evidence. You just have to look hard enough.

Yes, it would be easy for Him to do that, however, that's not the way He does things. Who are you that the God of the universe should HAVE to physically or psychically reveal Himself to you?
He has not hidden anything, you just haven't sought Him out.
Jesus was God in the flesh, yet people of His time didn't believe Him.
So, even if God did reveal Himself to you, you probably wouldn't believe then either!

The problem is not that God hasn't revealed Himself, but more that man chooses not to believe what is revealed. Becuase of sin man is set out by the very things He does to be be in rebellion of God. You say God could give a telepathic hello or appear in dreams, etc. but if He did how long would it take you to discern it as being nothing more than your own conscious or a dream. How long will it take you or someone to convince you that the dream you had was nothing more than your wanting to believe God exists so you had a dream about your deepest desires. If a person does not believe in God then how will they ever believe the things of God? History even tells us that it is more than that. Look at the Isrealites for example. How many times did God reveal Himself to the Jews and they outright rejected Him and turned their backs on Him, but they are not the only ones who have done that. Look no further than this board, wrought with people who openly defy, deny and turn their backs on God.
A non-believer sitting at a table with a believer discussing the existence of God. The non-believer begins to yell out, "Come on God, show yourself. Prove to me you exist. All's you have to do is prove show yourself to me and I will believe. Go ahead, knock over this cup in front of me and I will believe in you." After a few seconds he says, "That's what I thought, see He doesn't exist." At that moment the man stands up, bumps the table and knocks over the glass.
My guess is those who believe in God will see how God interacts in the man's life, those who don't believe will see anything but God. As long as a person can reason things through the natural world they will never see the supernatural. An object falls and they claim it is the law of gravity that acts upon that object never giving credit to the person who created the law. They think that those things they can't explain are just yet unexplained that eventually we will have a natural understanding thereby denying the existence of God.
Man through sin is set against God and in rebellion because the things he wants is not what God wants for us. God will appear to people and yet in the face of God through hardened hearts towards God they will still turn their backs on Him. Still think it would be easy for Him to prove His existence and people would believe in Him? The only other option is that He forces them to believe in Him, but then that negates free will I would think.
God doesn't work in the same method the world does. The world says, "if I see God then I will believe in God." God says, "if you believe in Me then you will see Me."

The Spirit does, if you learn to recognize it. As for God covering His tracks, look all around you. His tracks are everywhere, in the clouds, the sunset, the birds, flowers, the very air we breathe. Think about it. I suppose you think this all evolved from evolution too, just for special people like you.

No not really convenient.
Can you imagine all the sales calls?
Gosh I don't like calls during meal time do you?
We all dislike telemarketers. Isn't that the reason people have unlisted numbers?
Besides he does say hello.
Every time we look at a rainbow or see a child playing.
Yes he says hello every minute of every day.

I have posed that scenario to believers many times, how about a dream to every person on earth at the same time? That should be easy for a guy with his skills and think what it would accomplish.

That would make it too easy. God wants us to choose our own path. And how much do we know about other people from around the time that he was on Earth? Not much.

well, He didn't exactly say "hello," but He sent his son to visit -- kind of like an Ambassador to Mankind. and the Ambassador just happened to save all of Mankind from eternal damnation while he was visiting. i'd say that's better than a telepathic "hello."
