Sometimes it's best to be long on listening and short on speaking so the power is removed from an abuser.

save emails and record calls to make a good case when the time comes

Let me pray for you right here.
Oh Father God Almighty, you know these parents and you know how they love their children and that they want the best for them. Please give them wisdom in dealing with each other, and let them solve their problems without bringing any emotional stress to themselves and the kids. Show them how big is your mercy and forgiveness and thus teach them how to forgive each other, with the assurance of your love. Let them be selfless and act out of love in everything they do.
We pray this in the precious name of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior, who bore the weight of the sins of the world so that we could come to you directly, and we are so grateful for that.
Amen.
