I'm guessing you weren't spanked as a child, that's why you are still having tantrums,or you need a time out for trying to force your opinion on people!!By the way are you some kind of psychologist? You parent your child and don't try to tell other people how to parent theirs!!!!!!!!!!!! Who are you to tell people they are wrong or right!?

have you ever heard "spare the rod - spoil the child" ?
spanking isn't suppose to be done in anger and I don't believe it is to be harsh either. a good swat on the behind will teach the child consequences of their wrong action. the biggest problem is that most people discipline when they are angry. A child should understand that discipline is done in love - yes even a good swat on the butt can be considered love if done in the right manner.
i get angry when i see people in the store haul off and hit their kids. i just want to tell them "just because you are angry doesn't mean you have to hit your child".
my children got spankings, but along with that came talking about why they were being disciplined and an "I love you, no matter what".
It's not the spanking that is wrong it is the way it is done that is wrong.
by the way - my children are healthy, have great personalities and understand the consequences of their choices.

Every parent is different and every child is different. Some children respond better to spankings, some respond better to "timeout", whereas some to just need a stern look. You can't tell parents how they should discipline their child if we are not in their shoes.
Spanking was practiced for thousands of years, and I would say that kids were more respectful and better managed than today's modern kids. I'm not saying spanking is better or a bad way to punish, however, with everything, balance is needed. You can damage a kids mind by putting them on punishment to much.

I spank my children and they are growing to be wonderful and respectful...My oldest is 9 and has ADHD and even the doctor said that spanking him is ok because of his attention problem timeouts and groundings don't mean anything...he needs immediate discipline. My step sister was never spanked and only had time outs and she flunked out of school, is homeless, and a drug addict...I had spankings and I graduated top in my class, have a beautiful family and a great job!! But according to you I must have been confused as a child....hmmm???

Spanking. I agree with you. It does create a TON and i mean a TON of confusion. I am a NANNY for a four year old girl and a two year old boy, and when i see that parents spank the little boy, he looks at them like it is ok, and hits his sitter all the time. I just feel so bad for some children.

You are 100% right! I have taught preschool for over 12 years, had over 500 3-6 year olds, and have never hit a child! My students are very well behaved. Spanking is a punishment, not a way to discipline a child. It only teaches how to hurt someone to get them to comply. 90% of American parents spank! Parents need to educate themselves. They don't translate "spare the rod, spoil the child" correctly. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/6/T062100.asp

It is a good idea to spank children. They are not old enough to understand diplomacy so you ahve to get their attention sometimes.
