Presents can be interpreted in a negative way, as an attempt to influence the other person, but if you're very close, the other person probably knows you well enough to know you wouldn't do that. Besides that somewhat unpleasant issue, I don't think gifts dirty a relationship. The gift may or may not be something usable, it could be something silly, but the important thing is not to look at it in monetary terms, but as a symbol of heartfelt appreciation and love.

thoughtful presents with no financial value are always appreciated, things like a little note left where she will find it, or a daisy picked in the park. Don't overdo it though. I would avoid women who expected expensive gifts, love can't be bought, though a very occasional treat is no bad thing :)

you give someone presents because you want to..I don't think presents dirty a relationship..it doesn't have to be anything rediculously expensive...just a little something that says "hey, i care"
