my friend was driving to NYC and got pulled over, the cop said he was going 100 mph, but he was only going 80...the ticket was $205 dollars...he can pay for it himself, but do his parents have to find out? will they find out b/c of insurance?

Yeah...insurance rate will increase due to the speeding ticket, unfortunately.

Perhaps he could see about contesting it...but who knows? The cop does have the radar gun...so the judge may side with him based on that. Usually a cop won't give you a ticket for going a few miles over the speed limit. Here, the speed limit on I-state is 75...you can go I think 4 miles/hour over without getting in trouble. So, chances are the cop isn't going to stop him for going 80.

If chances are pretty slim that he can fight the ticket, then there's not much else he can do. His parents will find out when the insurance goes up, so he might as well talk to them before that happens. He should also go to traffic school to alleviate the insurance cost increase, and learn safe driving habits (in case he really was going 100).

Nah don't worry about it parents are really Dumb! Yeah right don't tell and he may not be driving any more, going that fast is just crazy and he should have his license revoked if he is under 21. Young kids today have no sense of responsibility and respect for others, of course he should tell his par nets the question should not even be asked if he is a MAN then he should act like one and take full responsibility.

No worry.

They will when they get the bill for the increase in the insurance rates, which should be PLENTY.

May save his life, to boot. No one should be doing 100 mph except on a race track.

a) I would believe the police officer before I believed you bf. 2) yes parents will find out - hopefully they will pull his license before he kills someone with his irresponsible, immature behavior.

On top of all that, your friend needs to have the courage, maturity and integrity to tell his parents and accept the consequences.

They'll find out when the insurance goes up, so he may as well explain his side of it.
