Do you think a tux would look better with this dress or just black dress pants, a white dress shirt and a black tie? We're having a wedding in July and I don't want the guys to roast if they don't have to, but I want us all to look right together.

The wedding and reception are going to be outside by a lake.

My first impression for a summer lake wedding was no tux, just pants etc. When I was planning my wedding, I even saw lots of pictures of grooms who didn't even where a tie but had an open neck shirt and that looked great, especially for that type of wedding.

BUT ...

With a dress like that, I think you're going to need a tux.

BTW I think the bigger issue is not about the guys roasting in suits but under that meringue you are going to cook my dear!

Beautiful Dress

Definetly a tux, the dress is more formal, and you want the guys to be at the same level of formality.

Plus, they only have to wear the jacket for the ceremony & pictures - most guys take off the jacket at the reception.

Tux! Most definitely a tux. You would look silly if he just wore black dress pants. That is an extremely formal dress.

I say if you are having it outside definatly let them be more comfortable, you dont want anyone miserable on your special day! a white dress shirt and black tie still look very nice and classy. You could always go either way but its not in bad taste to just go with the dress shirts and ties, especially in july. You dont want them thinking 'Gosh is this ever going to end!'
And CONGRATS!!!! I wish you and him the best of luck!

i think either or, but i think if you do go for a tux, they should be white tux jacket and pants with hints of black like in the tie and what not. Congrats!

Have them wear tuxes just for the ceremony. It'll look really good in pictures of you all, esp with your more formal dress. After the ceremony, they can take off the jackets.

Your gown is a full on formal wedding ballgown. Tuxes are definitely in order. Shirts only is way too informal. Sorry guys.

TUX, for sure.
since you're going to be roasting, they should have to also. Plus it will look classic and elegant!

I think he should wear the ux but he needs to be able to look good and comfy after it is over for the reception because it will be ouside.
