I'm confused about this myself...
I used to think it was all bad for them, but a couple years ago my dogs got into a bunch of chocolate. We called the vet and I think I remember them saying that chocolate is bad for them in the same way that any other people food is bad for them...but only one certain type of chocolate is really REALLY bad for them...
If your concerned about it, I would suggest you call a vet.
Good Luck!

While it is not good for them, it does take alot of chocolate to harm them.
I work in a vet clinic and we have this question all the time. If your dog consumes alot of chocolate and your worried about it, your options are to go see a vet right away or induce vomiting yourself by forcing alot of salt water down them. If anything they will have abnormal stools for awhile until it all clears through the system.

Yes it is. If they eat too much of it they can die. One square of Hersey's chocolate wouldn't hurt them, though. I had a friend who had a dog that got into a box of chocolates she got for valentine's day and they had to hire professional cleaners to do their carpets because the dog vomited and pooped all over the place and they had to take it to the vet because its heart was beating a million miles a minute.

There are such things as chocolates formulated juz for dogs. Get them at your local pet stores. It's high in fats though so feed your dog according to the dosage given in each packing.

Never feed your dog chocolate or anti-freeze. They are both very bad for dogs.

It'll probably rot its teeth. Also, considering Dogs are carnivores(Check it's teeth, mostly canines, with probably two sets of jagged molars in the back, these teeth are made for tearing and ripping meat, not chewing delicious chocolate that melts in your mouth but not in your hands) you should probably feed your dog meat.
