Depends. Would I still be able to live on land when I wanted, with these gills as something extra - perhaps maintained by drinking a few extra glasses of water a day, or would they replace my normal lungs, and I would become an obligate water breather?

I might do it if they were extras, but I wouldn't give up living on land to live in the water.

Also, can I go in both fresh and salt water? It might be difficult to choose if I had to choose just one.

Seeing as how I don't swim, I doubt it would interest me. But, you present an interesting hypothesis: what if we were to "evolve" backwards into sea creatures? Evolutionists believe that the Earth started out with microscopic sea creatures...and eventually evolved into land animals and then evolved into the species we know as homosapiens. What if global warming and ecological destruction ultimately ends with all of us "re-evolving" and returning to microscopic sea creatures? -RKO-
