Remember you must follow the directions properly- usually you have to take the test a couple of days after your missed period... if you follow the directions its over 99%
Also remember that just because you have your period it doesnt mean your not pregnant- my friend continued to have her period for 4 MONTHS after she became pregnant.

Many HPTs claim to be 99.9% accurate on the day of missed period. But research suggest that most HTPs do not spot pregnancy that early. And if they do the results are very faint.
In a 2004 study, researchers tested the accuracy of 18 HPT test sold in retail stores. They found that only one brand consitently detected the low levels of HCG, usually present on the first day of missed period. This was the First Responce,Early Resolt Pregnancy Test. The other test missed up to 85% of pregnancy on the first day of missed period. Most test accuratley confirmed pregnancy one week after the missed period.
I hope this Helps... Good luck.

if it came up positive, you were pregnant. home pregnancy tests are sensitive enough to detect pregnancy within the first ten days of pregnancy. therefore, if you have an early miscarriage (which happens quite frequently) you may start to bleed before you even know you are pregnant. since you took the test, and then started to bleed two weeks later, you know that you were pregnant. your doc is quite insensitive. i'm very sorry.

Yes. Pregnancy tests bought over the counter have a 80% truth rating while blood tests or urine tests done in a lab are more accurate.

99%... unless it's wrong... then it's 0%. Amazing how that works, isn't it?
