Will France FINALLY get its revenge after the '06 winner(Pennsylvania's Floyd Landis) tested POSITIVE for a banned drug???

The French are DETERMINED to be declared the true winners if Floyd's second drug test comes back positive...

To the French, only THEY can win the TdeF...and NOBODY ELSE!...

Ridiculous!

I agree.
He's not guilty yet.

After Floyd had won, I'm sure he was much more scrutinized than the others - just because of some prejudices. But that's childish jealousy.

But if they have in mind to DESTROY an athlete's career (by destroying his marketability, via "death by popular opinion"- the European way...), just out of spite, then we Americans are justified in rooting for Floyd.

Just hope he's innocent and cleared in full.

Lets all see.

First, let's not convict the guy just yet. Floyd will have his "B" sample tested. His Phonak team has suspended him pending the outcome of the second test. He tested positive for a higher level of testosterone.

Second, a French rider cannot win the Tour this year without the top six finishers being eliminated. Cyril Dessel was the top French rider. He finished seventh.

I do believe he should lose his title if he knowingly took a banned, performance-enhancing substance. This is truly sad news.

The french didn't even finish on the podium. How are they going to also disqualify six other riders so they can be declared the winner???

Remember, USA, Esp, Ger,Aus, and Rus all finished ahead of the french... bit of a reach if you ask me...

I think the entire methodology of testing these cyclists after events is good, but there are serious problems too. More likely than not it's a false positive - and it's not like the french are known for their chain of custody and scientific methods in testing samples...

If the French actually do manage to pull off a DQ so that they can win the Tour, I guess America would just have to send over some healthy atheletes next year.

Do you really think the French are more angry about losing the Tour 8 years in a row, now, or losing to people that can park in handicapped spaces? (Tongue in cheek...both Armstrong and Landis are too much of a man to use handicapped spaces.)

Clarification: he didn't test positive for any drug.

His ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone was over the prescribed limit.

One obvious assumption is that he was doping; but there have been cases where it was shown to be natural.
