You don't. You need to gain skills to get a better job to pay for those things. Night school, day school, on the job training, community programs, etc. Minimum wage is not going up...and, even if it did...lets say it went to $10 an hour....that is not enough to live on either. You HAVE to gain skills and get a better job.

Miserably. I make minimum wage and have 6 kids. We live behind the baseball stadium in the old equipment shed. I do not have enough money to put clothes from good will even on my childrens backs. Sometimes I make them clothes out of old car seats and pieces of tires. We usually eat what we can find my kids are real good about going through the dumpster after games for hotdogs and chili cheese fries. I mix everything they find in the dumpster in an old iron pot. It's my kids favorite meal, we call it "Dugout Delight". As far as gas and bills go you dont need any of that if you dont have a home. I do my own doctoring, so I dont need doctors, insurance or medicine. When my youngster fell off the bleachers and split his face wide open, I stitched him back up with a crotcheting needle and a shoelace. He looks just fine now. Oh, by the way I do have a bill, it's my crack bill, that's where I spend my money every week.

Living off minium wage is difficult because the price of living is going up but not our wages. You have to learn to budget all your money. Know what you need for the week. Make lists. Never buy fast foods. They are a waste of money. Buy dinners to make each night. Walmart sells cheap dinners that actually taste good. Learn how to use your electricity only when you need it. Turning off the lights when you're not using them REALLY does work, and using your fan and bumping down the air conditioner works too. Doctors and insurance. Insurance can be expensive, but only go when you NEED to go to see a Doctor. Which shouldn't be too often hopefully. My point is this.. If you learn to budget ... Making lists and counting how much it will be per week, per month etc.. it will help you.

Its very hard you have to stay with your parents or friends just take it one day at a time till we get someone in office that actually knows what there doing. Oh and Mr. Jhonny Im sure Mr. Bush has never had a problem with 5.15 an hour so of course he would poke fun at some one who would have to. He has had every thing handed to him on a silver plate I'm sure.

Anyone who works a job getting paid minimum wage is irresponsible.
The only people who work minimum wage jobs are people with a disrespect for education and who can barely say their ABCs.

It's really very difficult. Especially if you have children. The costs of daycare far outweigh working a minimum wage paying job. Sometimes it seems like your working just to pay daycare!

Last Friday when promoting social security reform with 'regular' citizens in Omaha, Nebraska, President Bush walked into an awkward unscripted moment in which he stated that carrying three jobs at a time is 'uniquely American.'
While talking with audience participants, the president met Mary Mornin, a woman in her late fifties who told the president she was a divorced mother of three, including 'mentally challenged' son.
The President comforted Mornin on the secrity of social security stating that 'the promises made will be kept by the government.'
But without prompting Mornin began to elaborate on her life circumstances in the course of their discussion.
Begin transcript:
MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.
THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?
MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.
THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)
and america takes 30 steps backwards...
