I am because I don't want to leave my daughter. I want to make sure she is raised the way i think is right. That is my only fear of dying.

Because to die is to venture into the unknown. Many people don't like what they don't know, and many are afraid of it. Death is the ultimate venture, and many times is irreversable. It is something that can't be undone, and that also scares many people. when my time comes, i will welcome death as just a new page in my expiriences...

Because I could not stop for Death (712)
by Emily Dickinson

Because I could not stop for Death –
He kindly stopped for me –
The Carriage held but just Ourselves –
And Immortality.

We slowly drove – He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility –

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess – in the Ring –
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain –
We passed the Setting Sun –

Or rather – He passed us –
The Dews drew quivering and chill –
For only Gossamer, my Gown –
My Tippet – only Tulle –

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground –
The Roof was scarcely visible –
The Cornice – in the Ground –

Since then – 'tis Centuries – and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity –

because thats the end... everything you've worked for in life you lose. people need to learn to accept their mortality and in doing so figure out exactly what they want to do in life. Religion is not the answer, in my opinion, because instead of facing the fact that death is the end people try to make up a false reality where there is this afterlife where people live after they die.. but sadly theres no such thing. Instead of believing such a thing they should just focus on leaving a good impact on as many people as they can, and live their life to the fullest.

People are so scared of dying because of this...

They don't know whether or not the afterlife exists. They sometimes wonder if they die, they would just be gone...forever.

It is pretty creepy when you imagine that you would never experience anymore of life and its virtues.

Because you will leave many loved ones behind and you really don't know what happens when that time comes, it could be the pearly gates or a firey door.......yikes, I better start being nice.

It's like the song in Showboat, (Ol' Man River), "I gets weary, and sick of trying. I'm tired of livin', but I'm scared of dyin'...."

I think that it's loss of control. People want to leave on their own terms.

there's a difference in being scared of dieing and scared of death.....most people are scared of dieing 'cause it's very possible it could be a painful experience....but equally possible that it's not...

Why do you think? because religion is so fundamentally flawed that the concept of life after death is impossible to conceive or accept so unfortunately death means it really is the end

I'm not afraid to die. I've known several people who have died and right before they die they see family members around them who have already died. They then go peacefully. It doesn't seem so bad to me.
