One of my friends got her cartilage pierced years ago and there were several months where it always seemed infected with pus. Unless the ear is red and looks really bad, then I think you are probably okay. Make sure you keep it clean, and believe it or not, the pool helps a lot (chlorine) so swim, swim, swim. The pus should go away and the piercing will heal.

OK, As a piercer, I first must ask. DID YOU GET IT DONE WITH A GUN AT A PAGODA? IF so yes it may be infected.
Solutions for infected piercings:
Mix 1 tablespoon sea salt (YES SEA SALT... no others) with 1 ounce HOT WATER... make this water as hot as you can with out burning yourself... soak the piercing in it for about 2 minutes... MAKE A NEW SOLUTION EVERY TIME YOU DO THIS... do it about 3 or 4 time a day until it gets better... then do it twice a day. for the first month.
H2ocean is the same thing as above but its pre-made and it is in an aerosol can. spray wiggle the earring around... spray... pat dry.
if after a few days it doesn't start getting better see a doctor IMMEDIATELY.
please note... with ANY piercing swelling and puss is possible. Even to this day i get some puss with my piercings...they are healed and not infected. The puss you must worry about is a yellow puss not a whitish color. once again if things don't clear up in a few days see a doctor.
If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me.

What???????? A piece of her ear cut off.
I have 10 holes in my left ear. They go all the way up and obviously into the cartilage. I
also have 5 in the right ear that also go up into the cartilage.
I've never had a serious problem with the ones on the left side and I sleep with mine in.
Sometimes the top one does get tender due to sleeping on it.
You must keep it clean. Just like any othe piercing.
I take my earrings out and soak them every so often.
I disinfect my ear with peroxide or rubbing alcohol. I then use a dab of polysporin.
If you do have some pus gently push it out and clean the infected area. Keep an eye on it. If it does get worse and doesn't clear up you may be one of those people who can't wear earrings in their cartilage.
I know on my right side, it gets infected when I wear earrings in it for too long. Strange I know. One side is fine the other.....forget it. It gets all red and tender and infected. Whethere I wear real gold or fake. So I just wear the ones in the left ear.

being scared is so conventional. it extremely is extremely no longer that undesirable. i might do it a 2nd time. The worst section some abdomen button piercing is the clamp they positioned on until now hand or perhaps that's no longer so undesirable. take some deep breaths. while they pierce you it feels like a brilliant style of tension yet definitely i'm able to no longer submit to in ideas the soreness. i'm constructive it harm slightly yet via the time i observed my new piercing i grow to be over it thoroughly. I even have faith that some places have a twig that they are in a position to apply to fairly numb the section. i'm unsure what it extremely is termed yet I actual have a chum that had it. my advice is to bypass to 3 places that do piercings and consult with them approximately it, discover a place the place you sense comfortable and opt for it. solid success and loosen up....you will like it once you're performed.

I have 4 body peircings and my newest one my lip is ony 3 weeks old it still ozzes wich is normal everyone heals different, if there is any redness around it see your doctor right away they can give you something for the infection also make sure you are using peroxide not alcohol to clean it, if you have had the piercing for at least 3 weeks you can take it out for a few min and clean the ring just put it back ASAP. If you are really worried contact the person that did the peircing they can look at it and give you advice as well.

Leave the piercing in, because if you remove it it will close up again.
Buy a desinfectant soap. Clean it very well a couple of times a day. Turn the piercing a few times so that it will not attach to your skin. Before you clean it, wash your hands with the soap as well.
Eat healthy, and don't drink alcohol until it feels better.
If it doesn't get better within a few days, go see a doctor. You might have to remove the piercing.

Alyse, If you think there is a real problem, see a doctor. The earlier it is detected, the more remediation is possible.
Questions to ask yourself:
- Did you get it at a regularly inspected, certified, hygenic facility? Often they have pamphlets and will look at the piercing if you are scared.
- Do you have a doctor that you know and trust that you could ask? You can often call on the phone to get an idea of whats going on.

Try different shampoos- some shampoos will react to the metals in the earring and eventually give you the infection. Ask the person that you got your ear pierced from if they have any suggestions- but if they have no idea try clairol products.

I've never had problems with my ear piercings, but if I were you I would rub the antibacterial stuff they give you when you get the piercing on it. If it doesn't clear up in a day or two, call your doctor or the place where you got the piercing.

You should probably go to the emergency room right now. Pus could mean that your ear is infected and that it's reached a dangerous point.
