Somebody told me about a traveling christian assoc.(she couldn't remember the exact name of it) that comes and does free dental service called shalom? or shaloom? Something like that...Anybody heard of it or know of anything similar?

Most colleges that have a dental program will work on people with the instructors help for a low cost.
Medicare may pay if she goes to her doctor for it first? Abscessed teeth that have to come out are not the same as having elective dental work.

Here are some links to assistance programs

I have never heard of anything like that before, how interesting though. Im sorry that medicare doesnt cover dental work. It sucks you know cuz it's like teeth are just as important. But anyway, many universities that are practicing to become dentists are available to the public. Remember that they are students but work with pro's to guide them. They actually do really good jobs on the public. I'm sure they can help you. All you have to do is find one and get on their list or something. Good Luck. I hope all goes well for your mother....Take care.

Most communities have a county health department where you can get dental work done for little or no charge. The only problem is that everyone knows about it so the waiting list is long. Just look in your phone book under counties and you may be able to find something.

Look for a Dental School in your area. Students perform the work, but there is always a Dentist present.
There are also a lot of Hospitals that have the same thing.
Good luck !!

Contact your state dental association, listed in the yellow pages under "American Dental Association." In my state anyway, there is a charity care organization that is accessed through the state association. The patient you describe is exactly who this activity is designed to help.
