Has this actually worked for anyone, because my dad friend’s dogs got lost & they ended up looking at the pound (the dogs ended up there) & they hadn't even checked for the chip & both dogs had them

I know of someone who lost their pet and it was brought to a shelter that had the microchipping software and they were notified. But I know alot of people who have spent the money on it and I personally feel it's a waste. Your going to be paying $$ for something that can only be used in certain circumstances. Alot of places that take in dogs don't even have the software for the chips, and the chips don't help if the dogs aren't brought to those places. For example, if you loose your dog in your neighbor hood and someone keeps it at their house... there is NOOO way for you to know where your dog is. I opted not to have my dog micro-chipped. I feel that her tags will do the trick. I think if they are going to micro-chip dogs then they should do so with a type of GPS tracking where a person can go online type in like an id # and some secuitry information and locate where there dog is based on that.

Well i am very sorry to listen to what happened. I know how painful it's to lose a liked pet. My mother does not mainly like animals and she or he's given away mine earlier than. I would not have a dog but I do have 2 cats and a pair of lizards. The lizards are not able to be microchipped and the probability of them getting out of their tank and going external is slim to none. My cats, then again, are and will probably be microchipped. Binnie, just about 1 year historical, has been chipped due to the fact 7 mos historical and Marble, my four mo historical, shall be chipped at 6 mos historical when she is spayed. Once more i'm very sorry and time will without doubt heal the injuries. Despite the fact that i'm not sure in the event you would ever believe your MIL with one other pet.

properly i'm very sorry to hearken to what befell. i understand how painful that is to lose a loved puppy. My mom would not quite like animals and he or she's given away mine beforehand. i do not have a canines yet I do have 2 cats and a couple of lizards. The lizards won't be able to be microchipped and the probability of them getting out of their tank and going outdoors is narrow to none. My cats, on the different hand, are and could be microchipped. Binnie, very nearly a million twelve months previous, has been chipped on account that 7 mos previous and Marble, my 4 mo previous, will be chipped at 6 mos previous even as she is spayed. back i'm very sorry and time will easily heal the injuries. regardless of the very undeniable actuality that i'm no longer particular in case you should ever believe your MIL with yet another puppy.

some chips come with an ID tag so animal shelters know. Yes I agree most shelters are lazy and do not check unless there is a tag. Just find any dog tag and add on that it has an ID chip

Yes! It worked great for us. We sold a 2 yr. old hunting dog to a man a year ago. The dog was picked up by someone who found her wandering in the desert and took her to the local animal shelter. They scanned her and found the man's info. But........he had moved and they were unable to locate him. We were on there as 2nd contact. Thank Heavens! We got our wonderful dog back! Had to pay to bail her out but was well worth it. So glad we had her chipped!

Yes. My basset took off after a female in heat. I got a call that he was found 2 miles away. If they don't have the tag on the collar, no one will know the # to call when found. Or if they even have the chip.

this may sound dumb but have you asked the pound if they have the detector for the chip? We found out here locally that the process to have the microchip put in is available, but the local pounds have not gotten the detector to find the chip. Sounds dumb, but it might be the case. If they do, then they are just being lazy and I would report it.

I think not all pounds have the scanner yet, but our police dept. animal control does, and they've been able to match a few dogs and owners. Our local shelter now implants the chip in any dog that gets adopted.

Those only work is situations like natural disasters like hurricanes when people get separated from there pets, so if you do not live in a place where those disasters happen it is just a waste of money to get one because it in other conditions will probably not even get checked!

they work, but in the south there are alot of folks that struggle with technology and common sense to check for that sort of thing. By the way, cute dog
