I've only been there once, but I love Maine. I highly recommend (if you can afford it) to live on Peaks Island. It's a small island off the coast of Portland...you take a boat to/from the island to Portland. It's such a quaint, friendly community.

Maine because it has something for everyone. If you are more into the extreme touritsty things go to either Boston or New York because that is like TOURIST CENTRAL.
