I was a baptist for all my childhood and was baptized when I was 15, and everything fell apart after that. I'm 18 now and realize Satan's true power and I feel a strong pull to become a catholic. How do I go about doing this?

I want to become a catholic because I feel that it is the original christian religion. My grandmother and her family are all catholics from portugal and I just feel that it is the right religion. protestants don't have the same powerful presence of god in their churches as the catholic church does. In the catholic churches everyone is quiet calm peacful, and it feels that everyone is their for the same purpose. In protestant church people are disrespectful noisy loud preachers. It's as if all of the comotion the preacher is trting to stir up in you, still isn't as powerful as the feeling you have when you are in a catholic church. I've only been a few times for quince's or with a friend, and I loved it, but it was so different than protestant church. Like, protestant, just the word tells you right there that it can't be true and original.

What difference does it make what denomination you are. This is what the Word of God says:

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

John 10:10

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Acts 16:31
"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household."

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Acts 4:10, 12

It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Luke 10: 17-19

Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

I Peter 5:8-9

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

I know u didn't ask me to quote all of that, but I just wanted to show you that it doesn't matter what denomination you are, just as long as you believe in Christ Jesus, He will give you the power you need to stand against the enemy. I could give you more verses but I believe you get the point. If you would like to discuss this more, please email me at rheganclay@yahoo.com and we can talk about it.

It's simple just go down to the nearest parish office at your local Catholic Church and sign up for faith formation classes RCIA
I'm not certain you would need another baptisim, the Church recognizes Christian baptisms if they use the Trinduum form. Ask questions while you are there I'm sure a youth minister or preist could be of much help and could go into detail. Basically the classes are about understanding the sacrements and the faith, lots of bible study. You may find reading Scott Hahn books helpful understanding some traditions. He was a convert from another Protestant group and is insightful and easy to read. May God bless and walk with you.

First off, please do NOT read the Bible. Reading that Book will be hazzardous to your decision to join Catholocism. You cannot be a true Catholic while at the same time be reading and believing the Bible. The two are diametrically opposed to eachother. You will soon find yourself faced with a dilema - a new decision. You will come to the crossroads where you either have to believe in the God of the Book, as He defines Himself in His Book ... OR you will chose to wrap your faith around a man-made, traditional, all-function-but-no-faith type god as defined by the Catholic church.

Go to a parish near you, ask at the office to speak with the pastor. He'll probably make an appointment to interview you about your intentions (to see if you know what you're getting into) and if he thinks you're doing this for the right reasons, he'll get you signed up in RCIA (Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults). They are classes where you learn about being Catholic and the faith. After about 6 months you'll be baptized and confirmed and that's it. You're in.

If you are interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.

You can go and ask any questions you want.

This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

There is no obligation to become a Catholic.

With love and prayers in Christ.

Go to the nearest parish and ask them about conversion classes. Being baptized is a bonus as you won't have to take as long in the classes. I think my husband went for 9 months. His mother had to tell the priest that she was a witness to his baptism though since there was no paperwork stating that he had been baptized. Good Luck!

Honey, ask yourself what KIND of Catholic you want to be.

There's Roman Catholics.

There's Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthdox.

There's Anglo-Catholics (Anglicans/Episcopals, and beware of this because ECUSA - the Episcopal Church of the United States - and the Anglican Communion are almost ready to split over the issues of ordaining women and gay people, and the fact that ECUSA just elected its first WOMAN Presiding Bishop who has sanctified gay marriages and spoke of "Mother Jesus" in her first sermon as Bishop-elect) too.

Look in your local phone book and find these churches in your area. Visit them. Often. Talk to many members of that church while you're there.

Go to many of them. As many as possible.

Get on the phone to the priests and ask them lots of questions; make them earn their paychecks. That's what they are there for - to help people understand. If possible, invite a priest to go to lunch with you one day and just ask him things.

By trial and error, you'll find the church where you feel the Holy Spirit moving, and you'll know which one is right for you. It does take time, but don't rush it. It is a fascinating journey.

I myself just went through this process and decided to join St. Matthew's Epsicopal.

first of all, Catholics ARE Christians. in case you knew your history of Christianity, you would be attentive to this.Catholics have been the 1st Christians, and we are the only denomination surely based via Christ, as properly because of the fact the only denomination for whom ALL rites and traditions come from the Bible. What you mean is "Do extra Catholics exchange into Protestant or do extra Protestants exchange into Catholic?" My husband and that i are the two examples of Protestants who ultimately grew to alter into Catholic (however we went a around-approximately way approximately it, dealing with Paganism, first!) in actual fact that, even with what you have witnessed, extra Protestants finally end up turning out to be Catholic. Why? countless motives. I grew up in a Baptist church and fell away because of the fact I wasn't getting solutions to my questions. different than for that, I felt i mandatory much less employer and custom. What i mandatory exchange into extra. The Catholic Church gave me that, and replied my inquiries to my delight. in many cases, a Catholic turns into Protestant because of the fact they're poorly catechised and don't completely comprehend their very own faith. they may well be invited to church via a Protestant chum, and that they do no longer see something incorrect with it. For a on a similar time as, they circulate to the two Mass and the Protestant service. those are Catholics who are not examining the Bibles for themselves, basically listening to the anti-Catholic rhetoric spewed via those Protestant ministers and believing regardless of they say. via the time they circulate to work out the priest, in the event that they ever do, to invite questions approximately what they're listening to interior the Protestant bible learn team or on the Protestant church, this is too previous due. they're already closed to regardless of the priest has to declare. on the different hand, Protestants who surely examine the Bible for themselves and surely ASK questions and surely take it sluggish to benefit the data and the reality approximately what Christ taught and how that's precisely what the Catholic Church teaches finally end up changing to Catholicism. thankfully, those numbers are basically somewhat larger than the numbers of Catholics who're falling away. In my city on my own, for each Protestant introduced into the fold each and each year, we've 5 or 6 new Catholics, and that's in a city with heavy anti-Catholic sentiment and on the edge of 10 cases extra Protestant church homes than Catholic church homes. So what does that inform you?
