No. That'd be what one calls a 'coincidence'

I am an agnostic, not an atheist.
But no, praying for something and having it happen is not a clear sign that God exists. Things happen for all sorts of reasons that do not necessarily involve God.
Now, if you prayed for something truly miraculous, so unfathomable that it was illogical to even pray for, and it happened, that might give me more cause to believe in God. But we're talking about something stupendous....like giving me the winning numbers to the lottery.
To put the shoe on the other foot, if someone who had different beliefs than you (for instance, my wife is Pagan and worships the "Goddess") and she performed a ritual/cast a spell to have some effect on your life that you needed and it happened, would you consider that a true demonstration that her "Goddess" exists?
Blessed Be!

I'm not an atheist but in my view the 'God' described in the bible is a manmade effigy of the real thing. Unfortunately God does not answer prayers -- 'God' is the intelligent energy of the Cosmos which created laws by which everything and everyone exists. Laws of science, nature, physics, karma. God does not intervene in the actions or situations of mankind, other than through these laws. As we are all portions of this eternal energy who always were and always will be, we have free will to act within the outlines of the cosmic laws. As long as we pretend a deity and/or a devil is responsible for things that happen in the world, we live with our eyes and minds shut.

Yeah. I need a new right arm. I'm dead serious. The one I had now got a bit squished by a truck. It doesn't work so well. You have a week to pray me a fully functional right shoulder. If I get it I will be the most devout, insanely zealous follower God has ever had. If not I will know you are full of sh*t. Go for it. Hey, while you are at it, see if you can throw in the elimination of my rather large surgical scars. I mean, if the shoulder is going to work, why have scars on it? 7 days my friend, 7 days.

It would be a coincidence.
You geniuinely don't believe otherwise, do you?
Let's try something... Pray tonight that the sun will rise tomorrow morning, okay? Wake up and say 'hallelujah' and praise God. Then, that night, pray to God that the sun _won't_ rise the day after... okay, that'd affect traffic - pray that the sun rises in the West that morning. Pray reeeeeallllly long and reeeeallllly hard... Pray all night long...
You know what? It ain't gonna happen.
I promise.

It depends. If I feel like I need a new job and I find something that seems perfect on craigslist, I don't think this counts. If anyone scans the want-ads, there are bound to be some great positions available for them. This is giving god credit for one's own initiative.
However, if I am on the roof of my flood-ravaged home and I pray for a winged horse, which appears and flies me off to safety, I'd absolutely believe in god. And flying horses.

That's why i believe in him because i have prayed for certain things this past few weeks and it has come to pass. There's no way to explain it other than there is really a God.

Unless he came up to me, face to face, could prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was in fact god then MAYBE i would believe...i am not athiest, i am an agnostic, but this would still have to happen!
Then I think the only thing I would ask: What the F**K were you thinking?!

OK...I need to win the FL Lottery. Pray for that, this coming Saturday. If I win, then I will believe in God. If I DON'T win, then you must stop believing in God, and admit that he doesn't exist. Fair enough? Agreed?

Sweetie, I believe in God and I would probably dismiss it as coincidence. God leaves prayers unanswered as often as He answers them because He has His own plan. You can pray till you're blue in the face and if it's not in God's plan, you're not gonna get it.

No, sorry... I would automatically assume it was a coincidence, because such things *do* happen. I don't know what would make me a believer, because I really can't imagine such a scenario (short of God making an appearence, I guess). What would it take to make you an Atheist?
