i've never heard of any birth control pills that don't cause weight gain, but it's only about 10 pounds which is a lot easier to deal with and work off then a pregnancy!

Yes. It does not matter if they are generic or not, that is definitely a side effect. Try a different brand. Or get an IUD. I tried 4 birth control pills and they all either made me so nauseous or so depressed that I had to give up. The IUD hurt to put in but then you have no worries whatsoever about forgetting to take a pill or any freaky side effects.

Yes of course. Generic brands are virtually exactly the same as the brand name pills. Weight gain is a major side effect, but can be avoided if you watch what you eat and exercise.
