Deliverables are tangible results that are delivered from the project. An example would be - if I am managing a project for a network installation, an example of a deliverable would be network hardware, or even an agreed level of uptime. Obviously projects can be varied so a deliverable could be anything from making a cost saving as a result of a project, to ensuring that some new machinery has been installed.

They are the very things you want your project to "deliver".

They are also key items shown in your project plan. Usually it is something tangible, but it could also be "all preparations in place and all contractors booked and ready for ......." whatever happens next in the plan.

If your project is to build a shed, one of the deliverables say, would be to have completed the slabs and base in place by a certain date. Otherwise, how can you erect the shed before then?

The shed parts being dropped off on time might be another deliverable.

Completing the whole shed is also a deliverable. In this example, clearly the main deliverable.
