I need to format my Windows XP without affecting my AVG antivirus updates.How to do it without losing update?

I have copied it in a separate folder but it still requires updating from scratch.

you cant
thats what formatting is deleting everything
try putting those updates on a cd or dvd
maybe bring them to streamload.com

partition your hard drive and move AVG to the new section
then format only the c: drive once done move back...

when formatting there is no way to keep something it always gets deleted no matter what
