I always "burn it off" before I cook in it again. Turn your oven up high for about 10-15 minutes, get rid of all the chemical residue that could be still on the inside.

This will depend on exactly how well the final rinsing of the oven was done. We all miss spots here and there usually that only show up hours later and then we turn the oven on, make a great meal and everyone's face turns on that "ewwww what's this taste!" look.
Try turning the oven on sometime in the a.m. hours before you plan to use it for cooking. Let it burn off any residue from the cleaner. Give it a final rinsing with a cloth that has been damped in a solution of water and baking soda. This should get rid of the remaining odour. You may also try just mixing white vinegar and baking soda in some water...the reaction caused will make the mixture bubble, but it's totally safe for hands and oven. You want the mixture (say 2 tbs soda to 1/4 cup vinegar and then about 1-1/2 cups water) to still have the smell of the vinegar solution, but not so strong that you gag :) Wipe the oven as before and then let the oven again burn off whatever may have been missed.
Hope the meal comes out to perfection.
Take care

Depends upon the food and the type of cleaner. Generally my experience is that while organic cleaners do the job of taking the residual odor out, they are not very effective, and they are generally overpriced.
Strong smells like garlic, onion will disappear when you clean the oven, but I am positive cleaning does nothing to actually improve the "taste" of the new dish in the oven.
Best cleaner for oven--forget the commercial cleaners. Mix 1 part bleach, 1 part olive oil and 1 part rubbing alcohol. This will do the same job as organic cleaner.
Also, while not in use, keep a box of baking soda in the oven--it is wonderful for absorbing the left over odors.
Also, once in a while, it is a good idea to bake a simple cake or bread in the oven--it cleans out past odors

Dunno if the food will taste cleaner..it might end up tasting like your oven cleaner. I would run the oven for an hour or so to burn off all the cleanser really good. And be careful because I almost asphyxiated myself smelling the fumes from a cleaner once. Oh, and animals can't take it either.

I don't think that oven cleanness effects the taste of the food.
