I'll try it...

An empty wooden thread spool (grandma might get mad)
Cut a groove across the diameter of one spool end
Take 1/2 wooden match
Tie a rubberband around match and thread through spool spindle hole
Put a pencil through the looped rubber band sticking out the spool
Wind the rubber band up, you have a torqued vehicle moving across the floor with the pencil dragging.

Get a 5 X 2 piece of timber, you only need it one foot in length get a peg, 2 nails and a rubber band. Hammer a nail half way in to one side of the timber, then nail the part of the peg that you hold to the other side of the timber, then open the peg and put one side of the band in its jaws and put the other end around the nail at the other side of the timber, there shud be a lot of strain on the band. When u push the peg to open it, it will shoot the rubber band in watever direction its pointed, a rubber band gun

Well, how about explaining how a magnetic MAG- LEVITATION train works in the world. buy some magnets at the crafts store, and create a magnet track with magnets on the lil flat piece. its not really mechanical, but its a diff idea. its movement using magnetisim. if you align the magenets the right way with the track and the say train, it will move/ hover up and back the lil track of magnets u made.
