I've been driving 15 years, and since that time the roads have got a lot busier. But the standard of driving seems to have got worse. Of course 15 years ago there were no mobile phones, but despite the conviction for driving with a mobile being increased, I see it daily. Cars, vans (especially!), lorries, buses, coaches. And a small proportion of drivers are complete maniacs and should not be on the road. Where are the traffic Police? Hiding behind a bush ready to catch us going 32mph? Possibly, but probably not - these days they're sent to help their colleagues in street crime. I'm not suggesting we have a nanny state, but something needs to be done. There is a serious accident on a road near me every other day. And as for drink-driving, don't get me started on that!!

More vehicles on the road = more nutters, more un licensed drivers, many haven't even taken official lessons.

Theres been a massive reduction in traffic police, dont worry though, our driving will be controlled by sattelite in the not too distant future.

Yes, the standard of driving is shocking but I have found a lots of cars driving like maniacs by where I live all have polish number plates. You can't control how people pass their tests in other countries, especially EU ones.

Having driven in almost every rally for the past forty years just watch out for the 120 decibel bass boomer, usually a seventeen to twenty one year old moron, and climb the nearest tree!

The actual test processes have become more stringent. However, once the test has been passed, people tend to drive around ignoring all they have learn't.

I think it's all about maintaining the standards set when passing your test.
