OK forget everything else.....the lancer is a coo as car I getting one I'm out of college the same year also. It cheaper on gas and then the explorer. But as soon as you start put bolt ons on the enginge such a tubro it will start drink gas. B ut over ******* go with the lancer plus if you tune the outside with a wide body kit it attract girls that are in to racing.

Dump the lancer and get the money out of it, which will pay for the gas for the Explorer.
You can haul around more stuff in the Explorer and it has more passenger room than the Mitsubishi besides I believe the ford explorer will retain its value longer than the Lancer
You can also fit more Speakers in the explorer if you want to do a sound system.
Of course it all depends on which car is in better shape, but I live near chicago, and If it were me I would keep the expolrer to get home in when it snows, not to mention I couls see over the traffic.
If I want a driving experience I will drive around in my V8 not an SUV.
But because you never know what youmay have to move the explorer has more benefits----Holds more people than the Mitsubishi.

it all depends on the type of driving you want to do, the mitsubishi is would be good for around town and highway driving becuse of the gas milage. the ford can be used for the same thing with less gasmilage but the ford if you are like some people and like to go 4wheelin is a good keep and also the ford is cheeper to fix if it decides to brake unlike the lancer with they can cost alot to fix depending on what brakes on the car. so my choise would be the ford explorer

If someone had promiced that the gas prices will go down, Explorer may be OK, but since in reality it's almost impossible that the gas prices will be reduced in the near future - definitely keep the Lancer.

the lancer definately, (my husband has a yellow one) oZ rally,
its great on gas and he gets tons of compliments on it, plus its from mitsubishi, the japanese are great car makers
