I am a shorter Italian guy (5'2) inches and it seems that most women like guys that are around 5'8 or taller, even if they are very small. Why is that?

No woman wants to feel like an ogar standing next to their man. Thats why most woman go for the bigger taller men. It's nothing personal you just need to find a short woman.....

i come from a tall family (most people r 6 feet or taller)
so i am tall for a girl.
i think its easier for me to find someone around my own size.
and it's nothing personal so i hope u aren't offended
