Although I am not from America, I am guessing there must be some sort of teachers registration board there, so that they can place teachers into the schools. I would try to find out, and contact them, as they should be able to tell you what the requirements are, and whether you would need to undergo any further training.

Alternatively, contact the university/college in your area... someone there may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck
