I have just started going to Church and I do not have the base knowledge that most have. Obviously I am too old for Sunday School so I am looking for someone that would answer my questions and teach me. I guess I am looking for a knowledgable christian penpal. SERIOUS answers only.. seem to be a lot of rude remarks on here today.

Hi Heather, you are asking the questions of someone who realise that life's vanity is empty and is willing to let God play the leading role in your life.Be calm and don't be too anxious, so long as you are sincere and seek the word diligently and prayerfully, the Holy Spirit will fill you with wisdom and understanding. If you have a amplified or NIV bible, you can start by reading Romans 6 then Romans 8.But keep on praying and reading the word. Good Luck senorita! Jesus is willing to guide you!

I don't think I can be the type of pen pal you seek. However I have a few years behind me including a professional education.I thought I was too busy to learn much about the bible, until recently. I finally started reading some of the bible and started making an effort to understand it. I did this with the Internet. Just put "Bible" in a search engine. All kinds of sites will come up including, the Bible in whole, tutors, and discussions. You will find there are frequently many different opinions. I think that we are required to use our own intelligence in deciding what the Bible says, after exposing ourselves to different opinions. This is what a christian pen pal with knowledge, should do. Use the net.

A Deacon or Deaconess can help you to understand the Bible. They are able to explain to you what the Bible is saying in English terms, that you would understand. They would be happy to teach you on their spare time. (PS) Did you know that there are Sunday School classes for adults too?. It is called: "Adult Bible Study". These classes are also held at night too. The classes are divided up by age,but all classes are held at the church. You will be separated from the children, and the classes are all about the same subject, just broken down by age level. Sunday School,is the place to be,when wanting to understand the Bible! (Smile!)

I certainly remember that feeling! To old for the youth groups and not as knowledgable as the older people!

I have a pretty extensive knowledge now, and if you want to e mail me with questions, I will be glad to help where I can. I certainly do not know all, and will still be learning until I take my last breath, but will help guide you to the answers that I know.

Your best bet would to find another woman who is wise in the Bible and have her mentor you. I would also suggest that you read or listen to sermons from a couple of very wise pastors. I would suggest:

John Piper - www.desiringgod.com
Charles Stanley - www.intouch.org
John MacArthur - www.gty.org

Also, you're not too old for Sunday School. I go to Sunday School every week with others my age. This is where you're going to build relationships that will deeply affect your walk with God.

There should be Sunday School for adults at your church, there usually is. Or you can find a prayer/bible study group. Talk to your pastor, tell him you want to get into a bible study. Here are some websites for beginners reading the bible. God bless!!

The spirit will be your best mentor. Pray before reading the scriptures for enlightenment and understanding. Study and set time aside to research and seek the truth. You are never to old for Sunday School. If you need answers ask your bishop or pastor, if you don't feel satisfied with that pray to know who to ask.

I would be more than willing to help you as well.

Teaches verse by verse, taking the word back to the original text.
And lets the chips fall where they may.
It goes against most "Good teachers" because he does not support what has been the traditions of men!
But the traditions of men are not in God's word.
Example: T.of M. Adam and Eve where the first people on earth.
Gods Word:
Gen 1: 27 And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (6th day)
Gen 2: 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made. (7th day)
Gen 2: 7 And Jehovah God formed the man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living soul. (on the 8th day)

Either man existed for about 2000 years before The Adam, or by having sex with your brother/sister can result in a Chines child or black or brown or what ever, now which is TRUE?

It's great that you've started going to church. That's a good first step. But as you know there's more to it than just showing up at church. It has to have meaning. Start by getting a bible (if you don't already have one) and starting from the begining, read it. If you have any questions (and if you want to) you can contact me.
