Ok, so this was said ot me last night, ver batum:

"So you're standing at a gate that leads to heaven or hell. You don't know which. And there are two angels, one on the left, and one on the right. One angel always tells the truth, and the other always lies. You can ask only one question; how do you find out where there gate leads?

There is only ONE gate, and TWO angels.

You don't know which angel lies, and which one tells the truth

you have only ONE question to find out where the gate leads

The Answer: you ask "if i asked if this gate leads to heaven, would you say 'yes?'" The truthy angel would say yes, and the liar would HAVE to lie. His lie for "is this heaven" would be no, but the truth is yes. Therefore, the lying angel can't answer the question because either way he's answer truthfully.

I'm thinking something like "Where is the other angel going to tell me this leads?" but I haven't figured out the specifics. I hope you post the answer.

I got it! Ask one what the other one would say, and whatever the angel says, the opposite is true. If the ange says "The other one will say it leads to hell" and they're speaking the truth, the other one must be lying and it leads to heaven. If the angel is lying, then the other one must be the one telling the truth and would have said opposite- heaven. Same vica versa, if you ask and the angel says that the other one would say heaven. whew.

Hello,

Can I ask the same question from both angles?

If yes, I would ask from both angels: "Tell me, does the other angel think that I'm standing in the gate of Hell?"

When both angels answer "no", then I'm standing in the gate of Hell... :O

Explanation: we know that the angel saying the truth knows that the liar says no, and we also know that the liar knows that the other angel would say yes, but the liar must lie, so the answer is no!

Is that OK?

I figure the gates lead to heaven. I mean, why would angels be guarding the gates to hell?

But then again, are angels allowed to lie?

ask the one that always tells the truth " where does the gate lead?"

Seems straight forward to me. I think this is a varient of a paradox that doesn't really work with the story being told.

The actual paradox is a little different.

i would ask what year my great grandmother died and what her name was.

the one that was right would be the correct one. and one could only tell a lie so i would know if the one said the wrong thing would be the right way. but above u said that the gate leads to heaven or hell but u dont know. but u didnt say that it led to both. so tecnically u wouldnt be able to know

WAlk through one of them, and if you end up in hell, the other is heaven --hahahaha, this would be the easiest way to determine where both gates lead to.

Ask them both if they would lie to you about which gate leads to hell.

i've got faith there are 2 unknowns a million. which one tells the reality/lie 2. it quite is the proper gate hell/heaven i've got faith we choose extra effective than a million question for one hundred% accuracy. Ask one in all them what's two + 2 is . the guy who provides the proper answar , ask the 2d question the place the gate to heaven is. in case you assume that the guy who tells the reality stands next to the gate to heaven; then a million question could be sufficient.which would be a rather logical assumption.
