I got a speeding ticket the other day, for going 90 in a 55. Heh, yea... would sound extreme normally cept the average traffic flow is 80. I was speeding though.. just the fact that the posted limit is so damn low for a freaking interstate.
So, I got pulled over by a state trooper (tennessee). First speeding ticket I've ever gotten.
I called the number on the back of the ticket today to find out the price of the ticket, but the lady said the system isn't updated for like 2 weeks. WTF. By that time I will have to pay the stupid thing, and I don't even know how much it's supposed to be.
So do any of you know of a way to figure out the price of the ticket .. like, it goes by how many mph over the limit you were going I assume. Don't know if it's more because of it being a state trooper either......
hope someone knows...

You'll get a notice in the mail to pay the ticket off it will have the price and the date to pay by and an address for walk in traffic court.........
Usually if you go into walk in traffic court(which isnt as bad as it seems its just usually like general admission so you need to get in line before the cut off time and make sure you stick around so as not to miss your name called)See the judge explain your story or ask if there is any way for a reduction of sorts due to the conditions............the judges are usually pretty good with deductions due to all the rest of the frivilous cases they need to get to although if the ticket isnt that much you may not get much of a reduction if any BUT its always worth a try..........
works for me every time ;)
Good Luck.....and of course if you dont want to go through that just wait for the mail and get it outta your hair simple..........
BUT one more thing hahahaha
If you go in to court you can opt for traffic school and if you do traffic school you wont get the point on your license for the violation its just an 8 hour course costs about 30 dollars which you will have to pay there(this is California check to see what your state charges)and you can make arrangements on paying the ticket whether it be at a later date or installments...........

Sorry but the excuse for the balance of traffic doing 80 is not a valid defense.
Your wallet is going to get very thin very quickly.
Check the ticket and see how many violations are on it. Your driving record is really going to suffer on this one.
You were probably cited for at least one violation of speeding. (2 points. You may also have been cited for reckless driving (3 points), and exibition of speed (3 points). In California you would have been taken to jail and your car impounded. I am not certain about Tenn. but in California you would have had an 8 point ticket and a total fine exceeding $1500. Oh and also you may be required to go to traffic school. That would usually be charged at 1/2 the amount of the fine for your cost to go to the school.
Total potential fine and school $2250. at least in California that would be a close approximation.
You better get a second job now to pay for the ticket.
OH and one more thing. If all three of the charges are on the ticket, your automobile insurance is going to go through the roof.
Have a nice day.

Every state is different. Rest assure you wont have to pay the ticket until about a month passes, maybe more. By this time, their system should be up.
Most places you can go online to see how much it may cost my how many miles you were over.
In georgia, my first speeding ticket EVER was $720. I was doing 96 in a 70, and I was driving a busted a$$ kia sephia. I honestly believe something was wrong with the d@mn odometer cause when I go pulled over it said I was doing 85.
I went to court like an idiot to try to contest it. Needless to say the judge embarrassed me and told me how much of a danger I was to myself and the people around me by doing that speed.
It took me like 6 months to pay off that ticket!lololol
Good luck!

You will have to get a lawyer to win. Go to court and have them pull up the average speed surveys for the area this should lower the ticket. Also when you get pulled over you are now the dumbest person alive. You don`t know why you are pulled over and you don`t know the speed limit and you don`t know how fast you were going because you were watching the road. DO NOT GO TO A MAGISTRATE YOU WILL LOOSE!!!! A lawyer will at least get the ticket changed to something less.

Hopefully, somewhere on the back of the ticket there will be a place for you to plead not guilty and return it. They will then send you a Court date, at which YOU MUST appear - but hopefully their records will be up to date by then and you can try to work it out with them.
Best bet - get a local attorney. In the long run - the lawyer will be well worth the money you spend on him/her.

You will probably have to go to court rather than being able to mail in the ticket. In most juristictions, going over 20 miles per hour over the limit is considered reckless driving, and you must report to court for that.

always fight the ticket ..this will give you the opportunity to speak to the office and ask him to lower the speed so you will not get a fine for that speed.......apologize to the officer and the court

It depends on your area on the fines...the amount should be directly on the ticket though...
