after his nap, he eats a whole jar of baby food, then a bottle a half hour later, then a cat nap, then another full bottle(8ounces) before bed.

What is normal? Just as people differ in their hunger so do babies. I've known some people that only gave their child formula until 6 months and others that had to give their baby cereal at 2 days old because she was going through 8 oz of formula every 2 hours. Let your baby tell you if he's getting enough food. Unlike adults they will stop eating when full.

I have a 6month old also and I think that the babies just have to get used to the transition from the bottle to the spoon. My baby goes through two 8oz cereal bottles at night and in the morning she eats a bowl of baby oatmeal with a fruit apples, bananas, etc. Then for lunch she usually eats a whole container of baby vegetables and sometimes she a half container of fruit with it. Finally for dinner she eats a whole container of baby vegetables and also a whole container of baby fruit with it. Now in between all of her feedings, she takes three ounces of formula in her 6month old sippy cup. So don't think your baby is not getting enough food because he is!

he is hungry. today doctors don't want you feeling babies until they are a year old. when my children where younger. my youngest is 25, I never waited to feed them. at two weeks I was feeding a little cereal with formula, then I started on the yellows and when I finished I gave them the greens and so forth. children are hungry and doctors are not the ones getting up at night. if you ask your doctor he will tell you to stop. I just used the doctor for the shots even when I took the children off the formula and put them on two percent milk after six months. when the doctor told me to do it I told the doctor it was done already. take it from a mother who went threw this with three children, one 29, one 28 and the other 25

My 6 month old still eats about every three hours.
7:00 am- 6 oz bottle
10:00 am- small bowl of rice cereal with fruit/veg. and 3 oz of formula
2:00p.m.- 6 oz bottle
5:00p.m.- 6 oz bottle
8:00 p.m. Small bowl of rice cereal w/ fruit/veg and 5 oz of formula to hold him through the night
I think that he is normal they do sooo much growing right now he needs the nutrition to replenish his growing body so he can grow up big and strong!
Don't worry mom! If you are concerned talk with his doc. about a feed schedule or better yet a nutritionist.

He just seems to be only fed and then sleep. Is that OK with you.
Did you decide to give him so much in the beginning coz it is prov en that with two things 1) food and 2) sleep your body can be trained towards any extreme.
So decide intelligently (if u r serious n this is no joke) about how much is good 4 ur baby.

It sounds like he may be in a growth spurt. Kids that are growing quickly usually eat a lot. If you think he's eating a lot now, wait till he gets to about 14 or 15. He'll eat you out of house and home!!

sounds about right to me,especially if your feeding him on demand. But , what you should giving him is a half bottle of water, or watered down juice. The meals seem fine, as babies do burn alot of calories. Between meals water ,or fruit. Teach him healthy habits now.Never give them milk before bedtime or nap, ruins their teeth, give them water. (I know he probably only has gums now, but his teeth are underneath, water before bed or nap)

Don't you think that is a little much? Check with your pediatrician. Bet you are the grocer's best customer for huggies, or it is snuggles.
