Question 1: What's the difference?
Essentially, not much. Both are nowadays made from sugar (or sweetener), citric acid, caramel, and a "secret sauce" of herbal and plant extracts (orange oil is one of the ones in Coke).
Coca-Cola, based on the coca leaf and kola nuts, was sold as a health drink from about 1886 to cure headaches and nausea (coca leaf is still used today in the Andes to get over altitude sickness and as a mild stimulant). Coca was swapped out for chemically extracted caffeine later on.
Pepsi was also a snake-oil health drink early on: supposed to cure stomach gripes (and dysPEPSIa... hence the name.) Composition was pretty much the same - sugar, caffeine, kola nuts, rare oils.
While both had their fans early on, the real Coke v Pepsi wars started during Prohibition and the Great Depression - when cheap, alcohol-free stims were a marketing dream. The war squeezed out the previous soda fountain champ, Moxie (though you can still find it in obscure parts of New England. Not that you want to, it's definitely an acquired taste.)

Me personally would pick pepsi because (1) it taste better (2) Ppl think that pepsi is better because coke has an after taste (3) and there is no difference it is the same soda but one has a after taste and they have different brand names some ppl even say those companys work together ,but me I like them both but if I was stranded in a desert with a coke I would still drink I would rather drink a soda I don't like than die!! Remeber," pepsi for those who think young."

I like Pepsi more because it don't have the syrupy taste like Choke, err Coke

coke I prefer, the taste is different. pepsi taste as if there is breach in there.
