mynx326 made the comment that I am a bigot and should learn to speek another language. I live in the U.S.A. and our language is English. If I was going to another country I would learn there language so I could communicate, but why should I have to learn 30 other languages for living in the U.S.A. Infact I have been learning Russian since I plan to visit there within the next couple of years.

You know, this country was founded and built literally from the ground up by millions of people, many of whom did not speak a word of English; and if you will recall, the original inhabitants of this land did not speak English.

While I agree that ILLEGAL immigrants may pose a problem, neither you nor anyone else in this country has the right to disparage people who come here legally for a better life.

I believe that if someone plans to live in the US, and do business in the US, they should learn to speak English, at least well enough to communicate with their English-speaking customers and vendors. HOWEVER, it is denying them the basic freedoms that found this country to tell them that they cannot have access to services in their native language until they do learn to speak and read English.

In the meantime, instead of wasting your energy being a closed-minded bigot, maybe you could try learning to speak Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, or even sign language.

The world does not revolve around you.

Mynx326 is right, this world was founded by many different cultures and languages, but if you would have been around prior to the last 10 - 15 year out brake of wanting the U.S. to adapt to foreign languages you would have noticed that damn near everyone spoke English. It might have been broken English but it was still English. The problem is that now a days, the people don't want to try and learn our language, why should they if the government will print documents for them in there language. Just remember we are not talking about 500 to a 1000 people we're talking about millions that don't want to learn. When I can walk into a school in Chicago IL. or East Chicago IN. and see the numbers up on the wall with the spelling of the numbers in Spanish under them. Then find out that this isn't even the Spanish learning classroom, but it's every classroom that has it in Spanish, something is wrong and it needs to be fixed. Do you realize how much it cost every year for the government to produce these documents in two different languages. They are doing double the work and we are paying for it. We are a country founded by many cultures with one common language to be spoken here and that is English. I'm sorry this is just my opinion. I almost Forgot, I'll pick 1 even if I shouldn't have too

Write your senator! Tell him/her/it that they need to pass the bill currently in Congress that would make English the official language of the U.S.

Until then, neither English nor Spanish nor any other language is considered the "official" language of this country. Which means that technically Americans have no real right to require that immigrants learn English.

In fact, if you look at the people writing on this site, you'll see that most Americans can't speak English either.

After a short analysis, with the perspective of answer (this) your question, also base in my 34 years experience as a permanent, and legal resident of this Country. It seams to me, and this isn't purely an imaginary assumption, but true, and clear perception, and off my own experience. That been born, reside and live in U.S., involved to your perception the needs of being prejudice and practice persecution, although the practice of the Spanish languages specially in the American continent is bigger and greater than the countries, that in the same Continent speaks English?. Please allow me to expand a bit more in this, the same subject, the tactics that to make the English languages more difficult to learn and practice by foreigners in this U.S., Country of America, aren't what I will consider also the best tactics to help, force and or allow peoples (outsiders) to learn this new languages. perhaps, and although you are, and I assumed born in this North American soil, and I respect your opinion although you don't need to be opinionate to express your point of view in this subject. Simply because Spanish speaking peoples in their majority, are the one that are facing this problem, that with all do respect, to you I have been willingly to consider a big issue. Although, and to better answer your question. The Languages isn't the obtacle in this main issue but, the willingness to coomprihend, understand, and comuniacte, that in this case U.S., have practice to ignore and loockng to understand that here are better, more precing and biggert issues that we will need to fix before the languages issue can become the real problem which by no means I will not try to fix, by been politically incorrect, a/o ussing the practices of percecution and prejudising, to persue and achieved the purpouses that you well intended. base in that I don't see English, as a living and pure languges but as a death language, much non-properly use out side of England a/o Europe. Bad, use to mean good, sometime ago, and now Dog, means person? isn't ? Can this be the bases of what prejudice its all about?, in this Country? The problem between Black and White its the only thing real, which we should work togethjer to fix, at this moment because Spanish cultures don't have that inferiority problem to deal with. Take note of this prejudie, and percecution comes from below, ignorance, incapabilities, inferiorities complex and darkness, in another words that is Evil. Prejudice its a force such like any other negative force, and it can be manage and control and use in the right way, and been my self of Spanish back groung I an by my self teach black peoples to how to ontrol such force, as well that I can't force you to aceept this true, but i can only recurred to your own Powers and potentials to REASON. a/o REASSONING. which can only be achieved after a hard work and practice existence (life), in control of our own 5 senses, in which case you will be allow to become aware of the real meanning of having some commond senses, That afterwords, we will need to put in practice into ussing correctly to get from then what is intended, for Humans and Humanity to achieved before we can all, move forward into achieving some perfection.
