Diamonds are on of the biggest scams the West has ever bought into. They wouldn't be valuable at all, except for the fact that brilliant man named Cecil Rhodes created a diamond cartel, and then launched a massive advertising campaign to make people associate diamonds with love. And there is a practical alternative to diamonds, which is CZ. CZ looks like diamond, but costs a fraction of the price. Even jewelers can't tell the difference? But is it worth it to know that you have an authentic? Maybe their something I'm missing here.

As long as you dont lie to the girl and tell her you paid more for it than its really worth.

But, most women, myself included, want the real thing. It is suppose to last forever. So go ahead.. splurge, max out the credit card if you have too.. lol. Im sure if shes a great person and you want to marry her... it will be totally worth it.

tell you what....how would you feel if you found out that your fiance was faking an orgasm everytime you had sex. It sounds like the real thing, to you it feels like the real thing. Wouldn't you feel like she was lying to you, and that she didn't think you were good enough to put the time and effort into a real one.

I would rather have a real microscopic diamond, then a one carat CZ, which by the way almost ANY jeweler can tell the difference.

It's not about being materialistic or about being selfish. If you don't wanna "waste" money on a diamond, then don't get her a ring at all.

I wouldn't really care. I do agree though that if I was lied to and told it was a real diamond and found out he lied I would be upset about being lied to. I would just be happy to be with the person that I wanted to spend forever with. Most girls envision engagement/wedding plans/ideas in their heads in their idea of what they want. But it really doesn't matter to me if I get my "perfect" ring or my ideal wedding, as long as I have someone that I want to be with who loves me. I think you'll find many people feel that way when it really comes down to it.

If we had discussed it & mutually agreed to getting a CZ it would be fine, otherwise you're asking for trouble because if you fake a girl off with a CZ & haven't discussed it she's always going to wonder what else you've been keeping from her.

A cheap man would not be my fiance!!! Marry someone who doesn't care about jewelry, it'd be okay I guess. Or....you could discuss it with your gf and see what she thinks about it. Most women see diamonds as a way of showing how much their fiance's aka future husbands value them. The bigger, the better...and it better be real!! (unless you date someone who doesn't care about jewelry, material things, etc) Good luck!1

I would be very unhappy. I would think that he doesn't feel I'm worth the real thing. I would feel cheated and lied to. Its like driving around in a car thinking its a Mercedes and then finding out that you have lick and stick emblems on it.

When you buy an engagement ring, it has to be genuine b/c it is simply a tradition. Who wants to show off a fake diamond?

A price should not be put on love. CZ is just as good.

i would be mad if i found out that my fiance bought me a fake diamond and tried to pass it off as a real one. if he couldnt afford a real one, i would rather he tell me it was fake and promise to buy me a real one when he could afford it.
