I agree that getting the Republican's out of power is a MUST, but what about the fact that we know the Democrats have supported Bush in his war on "terror" and have already stated that they will not seek to impeach him? Does this bother you?

If it does, the only non-violent choice we have is to vote third party, which is exactly what I plan on doing, regardless, as I see NO difference in the Democrats or the Republicans.

I will vote for the candidate that I personally like the most regardless of which party they are affiliated with. I think that a Democrat would be the best choice at this time but I don`t know who is going to be the democratic choice. I defiantly won`t be voting for Dick Cheney. I think we just need a new face in office and if Cheney is elected the whole world will view it as if we approved of all the actions that have been going on in the last years. I also don`t want to vote for Hillary Clinton, not because she`s a woman I just don't like her. Sure hope it dosen`t come down to the two of them. Either way the elected official will probably just be acting on the so called intelligence that they are provided with and we all know how accurate that always is. For the worlds view of us to improve (which is actually important we don`t want the whole world hating us that would just make it uncomfortable both politically and socially) we need a change in our government, weather it is electing a Democrat, someone other Cheney, or a third party isn`t important. We just need a new image for our government, one that at least appears to be trustworthy and have the our and the worlds best interests in mind.

I doesn't really matter what party you vote for, they are all the same. NO matter what presidents really don't make all of the decisions, they have numerouse panels and advisors to do that for them. I agree with the fact that you have to vote for the lesser of the evils, not matter what party. However this I do now, 90% of presidents have been hated while in office, they really have no direct power to make things change, at least here at home. The can only recommend and support ideas. I am a Republican who votes independently. I will vote for who ever I feel is the better man for the job, a job that I would never even think about trying. Would you want that kind of responsibility.

Only if it doesn't end up keeping statu quo, i.e. Republican control. I'm very disappointed in Dems but I dont buy into the argument that they are truly no different - or, more pertinently, that they WOULD BE no different were they actually in control. Give the Dems control and lets see just how different (yes, Repubs, that means how much BETTER) they would be. Put yet another way, how disappointed can we be?

And put yet another way still, as Sarah Vowell (author and commentator) said a while ago, what Democrat in his wildest dreams in 2000 would have thought Bush and the Repubs could be AS bad, as really really bad, as they've been?

I've voted Green and I've cast blank ballots in the past in order to protest weak major party candidacies, but never when it would make a real policy difference. We can't afford continued Republican control, and we can't afford to see Republicans continue to be emboldened in their stupidest of schemes jwhenever they win elections by 3 points or less.

The only rational choice is independent. The democrats are just as corrupt in every way as the republicans. Until the American people realize this, we are doomed to continue replacing one criminal for another until the eventual end of the U.S.A.

Make note: Even if the republicans are voted out and we have 4, 8, 12 years of democrat rule... MARK MY WORDS: The Democrats will prove to be just as corrupt and Repulicans will be voted in AGAIN! The cycle will continue to repeat until people choose not to support EITHER party!

I plan on going with Democrat, though I can share your perspective re: third party candidates. However, Dems still carry more leverage than any third party candidate and arguably there are some aspects of the war on terror that need to be continued....only MINUS the infringement on civil liberties, the violations of the Geneva Convention, and the Constitution. Dems are willing to keep those, and prevent the U-S from totally lapsing into a paranoid, fascist state.

A third party can not compete on a State or National level with the Democrats & Republicans - I'll be voting Democrat - gonna ride that mule all the way!

Democrat, supporting the war on terror is a good thing not a bad thing and impeaching Bush would be pointless because Cheney would then be in charge and he's even worse than Bush.

I completely agree with you. Part of the reason that we have a two-party system is that the corporations fund the candidates. It's extremely hard for anyone else to get a fair chance at being heard. It's not impossible though. When the lower class is tired of getting stepped on and having their children on the front lines of every foreign conflict then there will be change.
Vote for a socialist alternative.

Democrat. Granted the Democrats are far from perfect, but they're vastly better than the Republicans, and unless you live in Vermont nobody else has a chance of winning.

I never vote for someone because of what "party" they are with; I vote for the person who in my opinion is the most likely to be able to do the job honestly. I know that sometimes that means I have to chose between the lesser of two evils, but that's just how politics is.
Honestly, when it comes to voting for a president, I have voted for Mickey Mouse in every election that I've been able to vote in.
