You know this really a good question. If man was created in Gods image then God has to be a man. However, if God is a man then how can he be here there and everywhere at the same time?
Imaginary image ............ mmmmhh? Now how do I figure this one out? You got me there dude.

There is no imaginary image. God is a being of flesh and bone like unto our own because we were created in His image. Jesus likewise received a body of flesh and bone and was glorified in the resurrection to become like His Father already is. We likewise, through obedience and repentance may progress to become like they are and be glorified with them. We will see that we are indeed like them an in their image.
While I am on the subject, women will also discover that their are Heavenly mothers and that they are in their image as well. God is a man and He has a wife that is our Heavenly Mother, just as God is our Heavenly Father. Therefore, when God created Adam and Eve in their own image, He was including the image of heavenly women as well as heavenly men. We are indeed in their likeness.

We were made in the images of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, "LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE, AFTER OUT LIKENESS": and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

And these images were of their spirit. The word imagination is not in there. Or can't you read?

My children bear a variety of resemblances to me, but they are not me. They may sound like me, have my blood type, look like me, even have my sense of humor. So one might call them people in my image.

Unlike the rest of creation, God made us in His own image. We bear special similarities to Him that animals, for example, do not.

Of course, Lusty, we all know you're an atheist and this is merely a question to belittle Christians and other religious folks. Still, we answer seriously because others who read the responses to your questions might learn the truth and care about it.

No. We were not created in 'his' image. We are the image.

When it says that god created us in his own image, it means he created our spirits with love. It does not mean he created our bodies, that happens in the womb. God created our spirits, our spirits are what gives us life. If we were just bodies, we wouldn't be able to do anything.

Image and likeness are not intended to convey God's humanity -- these are not physical attributes

No, WE in our minds created a god to explain our existance, so we made up somebody who made us up to look like them, isn't that brilliant? Certainly if that somebody is the summum of perfection.

My friend, unless you repent and trust Jesus the Christ, you will one day find yourself standing before the very throne of God in judgment, and your final destination will be the Lake of Fire. It is not a joke, it is not funny. I will pray for you.
