Self confident people have humility and understand other people's points of view.

Arrogant people don't, or don't want to.

So to answer your question, self confidence is belief in oneself while maintaining some level of civility and humility to accept that one cannot know and do everything. Arrogance is acting confident by ignoring, bulldozing and bullying other people.

Very tricky one... there's a fine line! I'd like to think I stay on the right side of it most of the time! I guess having self-confidence without being arrogant means you're willing to accept your're wrong and admit when you don't know something. Not sure an arrogant person would!!

It is not that tricky, but there is a very fine line between two. Self confidence is when you are comfortable with who you are and don't show it of on purpose, arrogance is when you take every given opportunity to show off how wonderful and special you are and how comfortable you are with yourself.

there are similarities between these two completely different ways of being. basically these are the frames of mind:

arrogant: I'm OK, you're not OK
self-confident: I'm OK, you're OK

an arrogant person wants others to see them as above the rest, and most of the time they see themselves that way too. they don't listen to anyone and are convinced that they know best.
a self-confident person has confidence in their decisions, but does not ignore others suggestions. they have the strength and courage to admit when they're wrong. they actively try to do the right thing and be a good person.

You can be self-confident without being arrogant and arrogant people are usually not self-confident at all, because if they were they would not feel the imperative need to prove how self-confident they are. How does that sound?

In my view arrogance is when one is myopic and sees not the "other" considers not that which holds the universe together love self confidence Is when the opposite is true A self confident person KNOWS who they are and their place in life ( which can change constantly and be ok) They come from a place of acceptance and love and understanding That is not to say they are a pushover. open observation peaceful interaction and knowing when and how to withdraw...

Arrogance looks down and self-confidence looks up.

Self confidence is independent of what you think of others. Arrogance makes you feel better than others

Literally, "ARROGANCE" involves taking something for yourself that is not yours by right: the "-ROG-" part is related to "questionable". SO when you are arrogant, your action is questionable (that is, you may be "biting off more than you can chew")
Self-confidence means to have faith in yourself - "faith" in the sense of complete knowledge. Arrogance goes beyond self-confidence.

Its not exactly tricky..

Self confidence makes a person feel content in whatever they are doing and they trust their judgements more in effect.

Arrogance is when you become overly confident/over bearing where you lose control of yourself and become egotistical and selfish.
