I just wonder why guys tell their girlfriends when another girl wants to date them. Is it to make thier gf's jealous, or is it to warn them that if they don't be good to them, they'll leave? Just curious........

men arent good at subtleties (i'm one, and i'm not good at being subtle). they are also not good at communicating what they really want

methinx when this happens, its usually a message to you that they dont think they're being appreciated enough.

guys dont want their girlfriends to be jealous - heck, the last thing they want is someone going psycho on them. but they are like babies who need to feel loved.

Don't Feel Bad, Put The Shoe On The Other Foot. Start Telling Him That Other Guys Want To Date You And Then See How He Feels.

Well what if the guy don't tell his girlfriend another girl likes him, then what? Will the guy be in the dog house? I don't think it's to make his gf jealous or anything. I guess he just wants to be honest or something like that. Would you tell your bf another guy like you and want to date you?

This is a good question. The reason I tell my wife is because I know if I don't I will get in to more trouble if she finds out through another source. So I would rather be up front and tell her about it rather than taking a chance of someone telling her and it looking like I was trying to hide something

Both guys and girls are well known to do this. I believe the number one reason is to stir up interest from you. They want you to know that another finds them desirable and want to get a reaction out of you. It's like a game, and some people need to get the message out to reinforce themselves. I find girls more attractive when I see guys checking them out, only to have the girl blow it off or act like it didn't happen. This not only shows me that she probably isn't a "player", but also shows a concern for my feelings whether I react negatively or not, and I usually joke about it.

All of the above. The straight male is a disgusting demographic. In order to balance their self-absorb pompous attitude, of course they need to inform their girlfriends that another girl wants to get jiggy. Men love the idea of many girls wanting him. Poor fools.

Just trying to be honest, not to make her jealous and not as a threat.

By the way, a relationship where one partner threatens to leave like that doesn't sound particularly healthy.

I think it's a low self-esteem issue and to make you jealous. Men love to see their woman get all up in arms over another girl (they like drama as much as we do). By the way, we girls are just as guilty!

I think it is because they want their girlfriend to know that they are still wanted by other girls even though they are taken. They might want you to get jealous so they feel wanted by you, even more then before you knew that another girl liked him. Insecure guys.

i hate it, actually. Although it makes me secretly jealous when my bf does that, and it does make me secretly want to hold on to him tighter (knowing that he is valuble in other ppl's eyes too),
... i think he does it to make me feel that he is valuable. and that i should appreciate him more. Although sometimes i feel it is something like a blackmail too, because in other words, if he has a want/need (be it selfish/unselfish), there is always the idea that soemone else is just ready to please him... and if you want to keep him, you better do it.
