the fact that 'us' is used shows the concept of trinity. 3 persons in one Godhead-God the father,GOd the son and GOd the holy spirit. one can't exist wthout the other and are equally powerful. Bend ur index finger-u can see 3 parts but it's one finger.
in case u got confused- it's not 3 gods but ONE GOD

Humans are made of 3 basic parts: body, soul and spirit. 3 parts, yet one person. These parts cannot be separated by us. They are together till we die. Then the soul and spirit live on, preferably in Heaven.
Many people are under the mistaken idea that there are 3 gods; God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holt Spirit. Their thinking is similar to 1+1+1=3. The Bible says that there is One God, made of three parts. 1x1x1=1. This is known to Christians as The Holy Trinity.
God, having created humans, is not human Himself. Therefore He can do things we cannot. The Bible tells us that God also has 3 parts; body (Jesus), soul (God the Father) and spirit (God, the Holy Spirit.). One major difference between God and man is that God can separate those parts as He wills. I'm not sure how, you'll have to ask Him when you get to Heaven.
When God said "Let's us make man in Our own image, according to Our likness." He may have been talking to the Angels. The whole thing about good and evil came about when Lucifer (Satan) heard that mankind was going to hold a higher place in Heaven than him. This made him angry and jealous. He decided HE wanted to run things and to destroy mankind. Thus, here we are in a battle between God and Lucifer.

The three persons of the Trinity were present when God created the World. Are you familiar with the concept of the Trinity?: One God, but Three persons.
If you also read the first part of John (the gospel), you will see how Jesus, before he came to us as a man, was present during the creation and it was actually through Him that the world and man were made (that's what they refer to when they talk about The Word). So, when creation was done there was the Father, who was, lets say, "directing" the stuff. The Word (i.e. Jesus before becoming man) was the agent creator, by whom and for whom everything exists, and the Spirit was there as well (read verse 1.2, the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the water, or also in some versions where it says something about God blowing His breathe onto men to give him life after he made him out of dust).
So that's why God says "us", or "our", because there's three persons in one God.

There is the trinity. God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit...Three in one. The angels aren't made in God's image, when He said in His image He meant as in the way all humans look, not a particular skin color or eye color. All humans are alike yet different just like any creatures, they have many similarities but yet are each unique. I hope that explains it some.

Definitely plural. More than one.
Three persona in one God.
What are we made like?
mind , body and spirit. that's three.
There is a couple of times where Jesus started out in the indicative and changed to the plural.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.
John 3:11 "Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak that which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and you do not receive our witness.
The apostles at this time didn't know anything. It was at the beginning of Jesus's ministry. So it wasn't the we as in Himself and the apostles. WHO COULD THIS HAVE BEEN?
The three in one.
In the old testament references to God the word Elohim has connotations of plurality.
It is my perception that when He said Us, He was referring to the three in one. The Holy Spirit, who is the Father of Spirits and The Son-- the Word of God-- who is God. For what proceedis from the Father is His Son. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The plural pronoun can be translated in two ways.
1) Referring to the Triune Godhead of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
2) Referring to the governing/ruling/ownership concept, such as a king or queen in making an official pronouncement from the throne would say "We declare" instead of "I declare."

What bible did you read, my bible says "God created man in HIS own image" not OUR image. And, if it says OUR in your bible then I would conclude it is referring to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God created man in his image before Adam and Eve bit the apple and made us born into sin. That's why some people have characteristics that are not God like but everyone still has some Godlike qualities deep inside them somewhere.

The 'Our' God is referring to is Jesus. Jesus was with God from the beginning. Jesus is Gods' son. That is what it means when it says that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God................. Jesus is referred to sometimes as the 'Word'. It would really take a good deal of teaching to help you to completely grasp the 'indepthness'. If you do not have a home church or some that can explain, try to find one or you may e-mail me here. May God Bless

In this verse the Hebrew verb "created" appears in the singular form. If "let us make man" indicates a numerical plurality, it would be followed in the next verse by, "And they created man in their image." Obviously, the plural form is used in the same way as in the divine appellation 'Elohim, to indicate the all- inclusiveness of God's attributes of authority and power, the plurality of majesty. It is customary for one in authority to speak of himself as if he were a plurality. Hence, Absalom said to Ahithophel, "Give your counsel what we shall do" (2 Samuel 16:20). The context shows that he was seeking advice for himself' yet he refers to himself as "we" (see also Ezra 4:16-19).

God created Heaven before man, so God had angels. What he means in "our" image is a perfect person, which Adam was(Eve After) before they ate the fruit of the forbidden tree.
